Desert Vipers bowling coach, Azhar Mahmood: "I think we've done really well throughout this tournament. We gave away 42 runs in the last three overs, which was a little more than expected, but everything is under control. [Khuzaima Tanveer] He's a hard-working cricketer. He comes to every training session wanting to learn. His ability and skill with the new ball allow him to swing it both ways. He hits the pitch hard every time, which is what we require from him during the Powerplay. We have five wins on the trot now. If you look, there were a few tight games where we managed to find the win in a pressure situation. This credit goes to the whole team, the attitude, the never-give-up spirit throughout the tournament belong to this team."
8:10 pm After losing the toss for the fifth consecutive time this season, the Capitals were sent in to bat. They lost their in-form opener, Shayan Jahangir, in the third over, caught at mid-off attempting to loft a length ball from Naseem Shah. Gulbadin Naib, returning after a week's rest, started uncomfortably, failing to time the ball and even getting a reprieve when Sam Curran misjudged a regulation catch under the lights. The Capitals struggled in the Powerplay, scoring 35/1, failing to rotate the strike consistently. Post-Powerplay, Naib gained confidence, striking a few boundaries, but then gifted his wicket away against a Noor Ahmad special googly. Noor Ahmad bowled a tight spell in the middle overs, utilising his spin and the pitch's extra bounce. However, the Vipers' fielding was poor, with missed run-outs, stumpings, and catches. Leus du Plooy, after surviving a stumping and run-out scare, scored his 25th T20 fifty before departing for 54. Curran struck back to back, claiming two wickets in two balls in the 14th over of du Plooy and Rovman Powell. A crucial late-innings partnership between Jordan Cox, unbeaten on 49 runs, and Dasun Shanaka, 29 off 18 balls, propelled the Capitals past the 160-run mark. Curran bagged two wickets, while Noor and Naseem claimed one each.
