7.31pm Well, 140 will have to be competitive, because that is all that New Zealand have mustered. It was a peculiar performance from the visitors. Three massive first-over sixes from Finn Allen hinted at riches, but thereafter England put the squeeze on with pace and spin. Luke Wood bounced back well with three of the top four, and Brydon Carse was the outstanding performer with 3 for 23 on debut.

Carse: "Amazing, great to get the opportunity in front of my home crowd. I found out after training yesterday, Jos told me I was playing, wanted me to have clear plans. A humorous presentation from Woody. It's a big field, a lot of twos on offer so important we get off to a good start in the powerplay."
