7:05pm Phew, that was some innings. Ferreira led the way with a sumptuous 40-ball 82. He and du Plessis rescued the Super Kings from 27-4 and got them to a position where they could think about a total in excess of 160. Ferreira, though, ensured that the Super Kings kept dreaming, forming another belligerent partnership with Shepherd, who came up with a 20-ball 40. On a surface that spun and gripped at the start, this could prove to be a very imposing total.

As for the Super Giants, well, they would be ruing their inability to capitalise on their excellent start. They lost the plot towards the end, with almost all of their bowlers shipping runs. Their decision to hold Holder back until the end also backfired a touch. Pretorius, too, was not quite at his best and his plans were taken apart by Ferreira and Shepherd. And because of how they let things slip, they might be the more pensive of the two teams at the half-way stage. Do join us in a bit for the run-chase!

Donovan Ferreira: (On how he felt about his innings) I think it was very good, coming into a difficult situation. Feels good to come out on top. Flem has been really good and wanted to play for him and the team. (On the total) I think it is a winning total and I back our bowlers.

Holder to Garton, FOUR, dipping full toss outside off stump. Garton clears his front leg and smacks it back past the bowler to catapult the Super Kings to 190!

Garton to face the final ball
