7:18pm A topsy-turvy innings that began with Jacks blazing away in the powerplay. The Capitals scored 84 runs in the powerplay and at that stage, looked good to post a score in excess of 200. Once Jacks and Mendis fell, though, they struggled for momentum. De Bruyn tried to resurrect things but could not bat through the innings. Neesham could not accelerate much towards the end either, meaning that the Capitals, considering the start they had, are perhaps 15-20 runs short.
Credit must also be given to MI Cape Town. They kept chipping away, especially in the middle overs. Skipper Rashid Khan was key to that pursuit and he was aided by Archer, who also picked up three wickets, even if he was expensive. Courtesy of those efforts, MI Cape Town have in front of them a mountain that can be scaled down, although they would need to be at their best to do so. Do join us in a bit for the run-chase!
Will Jacks: (About the score) We are pretty happy with that. I am imagining the wicket will get under lights but 180 is always a tough chase. The pitch is kind of what we expected. I thought it was pretty nice to bat on so we have to bowl well. (On the SA20) Every ground we have been in has been great. It is such a great competition.
Neesham on strike. Can he finish off the innings with a boundary?
