3:08pm A rather underwhelming innings by the Sunrisers. The pitch was not very conducive to stroke-play but the hosts never got going. They only scored 30 runs in the powerplay and despite Smuts' best efforts, never looked likely of breaching the 140-run mark. In fact, had Smuts not managed a 49-ball 65, things could have been even more dire for the Sunrisers.

Credit must also be given to the Royals. They did not offer much room to the batters and stuck to their plans. Their ploy to bowl into the surface and take the pace off also worked wonders. Despite the surface being slightly tricky, the Royals will back themselves to chase this down. Talk of a bonus point might be too premature at this stage but there is no denying that the visitors are the happier of the two outfits at the break. Do join us in a bit for the run-chase!

Andile Phehlukwayo: (On playing his first game) It was unbelievable. Good to get an opportunity to play. It has been a while and it was a long time coming. It is a score we back ourselves to chase. (On the pitch) The track is not that easy to bat on. It is a used wicket and we have to be smart about how we play. The wind is also a big factor.

Jones to Erwee, 1 bye, not again! Length delivery just outside off stump. Erwee does not make contact with his reverse ramp. This time, Carse hares across for the bye. The bowler collects on this occasion but again misses his shy at the bowler's end

Jones to Carse, 2 wides, oh dear! Short and wide outside off stump. Carse lets it go and the umpire calls it a wide. The non-striker, for some reason, scampers across for a bye and for a moment, both are at the same end. Buttler fires it to the bowler, who fumbles and then misses his shy at the stumps. Two runs added to the total in the end, and one ball is still left in the innings!

Jansen looks to straight-bat it over long off again but this time, he is hitting against the wind. He gets a decent piece of it but the ball holds up in the air and Bosch does the rest at long off!
