Hendricks thinks he can punch it off the back foot but fails to keep it down. Might have come off the toe-end actually and Abell gobbles up that chance with ease. 5.6 goes straight up, and Esterhuizen bites the dust! Banged into the track on off and like earlier in the over, this gets onto Esterhuizen much quicker than he expects. Gets big on him, near his back shoulder and he miscues his pull. Swanepoel calls for it early from short fine leg and makes no mistake! 36/2

12.6 nicked and gone! An over that started so badly for Swanepoel, ends in the best possible manner! Changes up the length and goes short outside off. Might have been a cutter and that bounces like a tennis ball. Ingram, looking to glide it over point, gets a feather and Stubbs does the rest. Swanepoel is delighted; Ingram, after a tidy cameo, has to walk back! 109/4

14.3 slices across the line and pays the price! Beautiful change of tack. A cutter on a fullish length on off. Brevis, seeing the length, tries to tonk it into tomorrow. But because the ball is going away from him, he does not get the contact he wants. Swanepoel gets under the high ball at extra cover and pouches it. A terrific knock but now, someone else will have to shoulder the burden! 124/5

15.6 with the wind, but still not enough! Harmer has a wicket on opening day! Given a bit of air, on a length on leg stump. Omarzai skips down but does not get to the pitch of the ball. Goes through with his swing anyway and cloths it towards Hermann at long on. He judges it to perfection and then maintains his balance to ensure he does not step onto the rope. 16.3 oh dear - the wheels are coming off for the visitors! Dug into the track outside off, daring Rashid to go over mid off. He takes up that invitation but comes up second-best. Comfortably. Cannot get on top of the bounce and spoons it straight to Swanepoel at extra cover. Gleeson turns around and immediately points to someone, indicating that this was perhaps the plan all along! 132/7

2.5 zing bails go flying, and Boult has his man! A wonderful set-up and an even better climax. Pitches this on a length outside off. Jags back in with the angle and Crawley, swiping across the line, is all at sea. Misses the ball completely and it smashes into the top of off stump. The change of angle works a charm, and Boult is again doing what he does in the powerplay! 14/1

3.2 Hermann bites the dust too! MICT have this change-of-angle-change-of-fortunes trick on loop. Hard length on off and Hermann thinks he can pick this up over the deep square leg fence. Gets a top edge, though, and Bosch tracks it all the way from deep square leg. Settles under it and snares the chance, leaving the defending champions tottering at 16-3! 16/3

2.6 straight back at Boult, and he has a double-wicket maiden, just like that! Full on middle and leg. Seems to stick in the surface a shade and Abell, looking to drive down the ground, is early into the stroke. Chips it back at Boult. who gets his bearings right and holds on. SEC under a bit of strife! 14/2

10.5 nicked and gone! Potgieter is bowling the spell of his dreams here! Back of a length in that probing corridor just outside off. Rears up a smidgen and Markram fends at it with hard hands. The ball kisses the shoulder of the bat and floats through to Esterhuizen. Markram is stunned, as are the thousands wearing orange in the stands. They cannot believe what they are seeing, and they are not the only ones to feel so! 50/7

9.2 the pressure tells, and the Sunrisers Eastern Cape sink further into trouble! Linde dangles the carrot on middle and off, and Stubbs bites. He backs away, hoping to go inside-out but cuts across it too much. Slices it straight up and Bosch, moving to his right from sweeper cover, pouches it safely. You could hear a pin drop at the venue right now, and that is down to MICT's brilliance with the ball! 48/4

10.1 oh, that is a pearler! No ring-rust at all from Potgieter and he slips in a searing yorker first up. Right on middle stump and Swanepoel cannot jam his bat down in time. The ball thunders into middle stump and the defending champions are staring down the barrel! 49/5

10.3 oh dear - it is all falling apart for Sunrisers Eastern Cape! And Potgieter is having a ball in Gqberha! Length outside off. Bedingham shimmies across his stumps and tries to flick it through mid wicket. Bad choice, especially on a track that is holding up and is two-paced. Gets a leading edge for his troubles and Ingram completes the catch at extra cover! 49/6

14.3 just short on the catch, but has Rashid pulled off a world-class run out?! Full outside off. Harmer plants his front foot and gets under it, arrowing it towards long off. Rashid slides forward but cannot get to the catch. The ball dribbles away off his body, which prompts Jansen to take on the second. That, though, proves to be fatal for him. Rashid chases after it, takes aim and hits bulls-eye at the bowler's end. A magical bit of fielding and this sums up the entire contest in a nusthell. SEC short of their usual standards; MICT thriving and relishing everything they are doing! 76/9

12.2 Potgieter has four, and the Sunrisers Eastern Cape are falling like a pack of cards! Length ball angling into middle and leg. Dawson clears his front leg and swings for the hills. Gets nowhere close to the ball and it pings the top of middle and leg stump. Potgieter is delighted; those in the crowd, not quite! 59/8

Gleeson has a wild whoosh across the line and only swats away a few flies. The ball crashes into off stump and Potgieter is all smiles, as is every MICT fielder.
