12:03pm That brings to an end an ordinary Afghanistan innings on what seemed a fairly decent batting track. They lost Gurbaz early and with Chameera and Kumara hitting their straps, they simply could not recover. There were several soft dismissals and that, coupled with some good Sri Lanka bowling, meant that the visitors could only get up to 116.

Speaking of Sri Lanka, they would be thrilled with how Chameera and Kumara operated with the new ball. Hasaranga's variations were tough to decipher for the middle and lower order too, with Theekshana also picking up a wicket. Having done most of the hard work, the hosts would now want to finish off the job clinically and fire a warning shot to their rivals at the upcoming World Cup Qualifiers.
