Scorer: Ranjith P | Commentator: @Sudarshanan7
Right then. Not the best of captaincy days for Hardik. India go into the last game of the West Indies leg of this tour - plus the USA leg of the T20I series - 0-2 down. Not a scoreline many would have expected but not too surprising given the personnel at their disposal. A test for this young team. That's all we have for you from Guyana today. On behalf of Himanshu and our scorers, this is Sudarshanan signing off. Ciao!
2:18pm Time for the presentation.
Nicholas Pooran, Player of the Match: "Satisfied that I performed. The beauty of the game is it is never over till it's over. Being consistent is something I am wanting to do. I won't say it is a purple patch. I have been working hard in the last couple of years, but we have been losing. Now I look at the game differently and want to continue to entertain. [Mindset at 2 for 2 and 17 for 3] The score didn't matter to me as long as I was batting. It was about being smart and controlling the game. I felt like it was a decent wicket and we are accustomed to get such wickets here. The bowlers are going to give you half-volleys, full tosses."
Hardik Pandya, India captain: "That was not a pleasing batting performance by us. The wickets were falling and the track was on the slower side. We were not good enough to get to 160+. The way Pooran has been batting makes it difficult to rotate spinners. Doesn't matter if someone takes the ball away or into him. The way he batted from two for two, it was incredible. [On Bishnoi at No. 8] It is what it is. The current combination that we have means we have to play with seven batters. Bowlers win you games. We have to figure out how we get batting strength from No. 8, 9, 10. Batters need to take more responsibility. [Tilak Varma] The way he has been batting, that is something we are looking at. A left-hander at No.4 gives us a right-left combination throughout. The youngsters are coming with confidence and fearlessness."
Rovman Powell, West Indies captain: "It's a very good position to be in. Hopefully we can keep winning. We always knew it was going to come down to how we batted against spin. Shows cricket is a game of glorious uncertainties. I realised that whenever batters go at the bowlers, they don't go at the first over. So i tried to eliminate that and gave my bowlers one-over spells, especially fast bowlers because it is very hot. [On Pooran and Hetmyer] Wristspinners it is hard to bat as a right-handers. Left-handers can take that to limit the advantage the Chahals, Kuldeeps and Bishnois. [Shepherd] He has been very good, shows when you instil confidence in players what you get. Not just in him but all the players."
2:09pm The first time West Indies have beaten India in back-to-back T20I since 2016 and it has been a superb show from them. It is a win well set up by Pooran's onslaught. West Indies while Pooran was in and after he was dismissed were two different sides. Pooran did not let any Indian bowler settle before he was undone by Mukesh. Once he fell, India used the opening to claw back in.
And the highlight of that recovery was Chahal's legspin. West Indies were left stuttering against him but strangely, he was held back for the last over and that costed India, who now have to win each of the last three games to win the series. Chahal's third over saw three wickets fall but the next three overs were bowled by seamers and that was that. Back soon with the presentation.
Tom de Sailor : "Loving the attitude from the young WI team after the win. No over excited celebrations. Just hand shakes and smiles, not like they've beaten a big team. "
Rovell: "Thank You Hardhik. We love you from West Indies."
Just two needed
Chahal or Mukesh, who'll bowl the penultimate? It is Mukesh Kumar, around the stumps
