Mike Haysman has a pitch report and he says "there's nothing too wrong with it at all". He thinks it was "pretty average batting" from Sri Lanka, and that the South Africans will be happy to come out and bat again.

MYSTYX: "83 balls played by the SL for getting Allout is the lowest in last 100 years and Second lowest overall (75 balls by SA vs Eng is the lowest in June, 1924)."

2.03pm So safe to say records have tumbled then. Wow. This is now comfortably Sri Lanka's lowest ever score in a Test innings - their previous lowest being 71 against Pakistan in 1994 in Kandy. It's also the lowest ever total at Kingsmeade, as well as the lowest ever Test score against South Africa beating New Zealand's 45 all out in 2013 at Cape Town. Marco Jansen was hands down the star of the show, finishing on astounding figures of 7 for 13 in 6.5 overs, with Sri Lanka themselves only having faced 13.5 overs in total - that's 83 legal deliveries in total. But how to describe that innings? Great bowling for sure, but Sri Lanka were all at sea in terms of their strategy and execution. Several wickets given away with some poor shot selection, but South Africa hardly put a foot wrong with the ball. And now, from what was deemed a dismal batting display themselves, they are in command of this Test.

Jansen to AM Fernando, OUT, Skier and that is that! What an incredible couple of hours of cricket! Asitha has a big swing and this one goes straight up, as Jansen calls for it and holds on to complete his seven-for! Sri Lanka are bowled out for 42 (forty two)!

Jansen to AM Fernando, no run, Swing and a miss! Good length and it bounces over the top of off stump as Asitha backs away and tries to throw the kitchen sink at it

Jansen to MVT Fernando, OUT, No keeping this out though! That's Jansen's career best Test figures now, as he darts this in on the stumps from around the wicket. Grazes the back pad and crashes into the stumps. Sri Lanka are 9 down!

Ramapriya: "The batters of both teams are doing their best to make up for the time lost on the first day" --- Sri Lanka definitely ahead on those stakes.

Coetzee to Kumara, FOUR, Kumara off the mark in style! Short outside off, and Kumara takes on that packed region behind the batter. Guides this neatly between gully and backward point

Coetzee to BKG Mendis, OUT, Huuuuge appeal and the finger has gone up eventually! Immediate review from Kusal, but this looked close. It nipped back off a slightly back of a length, and caught him in the crease. Struck just above the knee roll on the back leg. Only thing that could save him here is height...but it's three reds and Sri Lanka are being serenaded by the permanent sounds of joyous South African hoots!

Jansen to Jayasuriya, OUT, Seven down and Jansen has five! This was well above Jayasuriya's pay grade. Back of a length, angled in towards off and straightening down the line. Jayasuriya is on the back foot and has a poke. Thick edge that is straight into those pack of vultures, otherwise known as the South African slip cordon
