8.01pm: That's all folks. S Sudarshanan's updated match report will be here very shortly, and we'll be back for more on Sunday for the second ODI at Kingsmead in Durban. Thanks as ever for your company.

Laura Wolvaardt: "[New ball?] The way we started with Kappie in the Powerplay, great to see her back. We had them a couple down early which always helps. The seam started dying out a little bit. It was tough for the bowlers in the sun there. They have a quality line-up and bat really deep. [Own innings?] Not the ideal innings that I want to play, but important in the context of the game to stay there until the end. It got easier and easier at the end there. We batted in partnerships which was key. Nadine smoked them at the end. It made me a bit jealous!"

Heather Knight is next up. "[Toss?] I think with both innings, it was hard with the new ball. Marizanne bowled brilliantly, really put us under the pump... so real positives, that partnership between Charlie and Soph. [Total?] We probably searched for wickets too much, because we felt like we had to bowl them out with only 180 on the board. [Middle overs?] We felt like we were in the game. A couple of wickets and we'd have been in with a chance. It did feel really close, but they were able to take the game away from us at the back end."

Marizanne Kapp is Player of the Match: "I wasn't too happy when I saw the wicket this morning. Even if we won the toss, we were going to bowl first. It seemed to work in our favour. [Did you want a longer spell to start?] I'm not where I used to be... I was thinking about the days when I could bowl 10 straight! [Cameo with bat?] A little bit annoyed. I should have finished that game and made it easier for Wolfie. But it was so exciting to see the way Nades played."

7.49pm: A six-wicket victory with 11.4 overs to spare for South Africa, which is a statement win after getting whitewashed in the T20Is. It was set up with the ball by Kapp and Dercksen, who both chipped in with the bat in the run chase. But Wolvaardt anchored the innings, making England pay for a couple of missed chances, and de Klerk helped them race across the finish line with plenty of time to spare. England short of their best with bat, ball and in the field... it might not have made the difference, but they must be rueing the decision to leave Kate Cross out?

4
Dean to de Klerk, FOUR, slog-swept over square leg for four, South Africa lead 1-0! Brilliant cameo by de Klerk to finish things off, and don't underestimate Wolvaardt's contribution, having spent every ball of this match on the field
38.1
4
Dean to de Klerk, FOUR, full outside off, crunched back past the bowler for four! Half-volley, room to free the arms, and crashed back past Dean's left boot as she sticks out an optimistic foot

Filer to de Klerk, no run, full, aiming at leg stump. Punched firmly to mid-off

Not sure what we're waiting for here... ah, sounds like some communication issues between the third umpire and the standing umpires, or a technical issue of some description. On we go.

37.3

Filer to de Klerk, no run, beaten outside off. Good response from Filer, springy bounce from back-of-a-length, beats the punch outside off stump
37.2
4
Filer to de Klerk, FOUR, banged in halfway down, de Klerk top-edges the pull away very fine, and beats Bell to her right!
37.1

Filer to de Klerk, FOUR, back of a length, straying onto the hip. Pulled away via the bottom edge, and Bell's tumbling stop is half-hearted at fine leg. De Klerk marches on!

Filer is back

4
Nat Sciver-Brunt to de Klerk, FOUR, in the slot, clubbed over midwicket for four more! De Klerk is playing a little blinder here as South Africa close in on a 1-0 lead. Slower ball, giving de Klerk time to pick here spot and whack it into the leg side
