Shanu: "So what has bhuvi done better than Shami? Shami at least gets a couple of wickets at the end. Come up with your new findings plz." -- Okay, I haven't had the time while doing commentary to fully explain why I think Bhuvi gets in ahead of Shami. They're both top-notch bowlers, so I'm not saying it's not a difficult choice. Shami is the bigger wicket threat, especially in the middle overs, and that can be valuable. There isn't too much to choose between them with the new ball (Bhuvi had an off-day today), and Bhuvneshwar is better at the death. But add to that Bhuvneshwar's handy batting, and I think he edges this contest, given the way the team is otherwise stacked up. In any case, there's a real chance all three quicks could play in the semi-finals.

Abhishek JA: "Dhoni has got 4 dismissals only in 2 instances - today and in the 2015 World Cup QF against Bang. Both matches were just before a WC semi final. We all know what happened in the 2015 semi finals. Ominous signs for India!"

Wicket is playing a bit slow, it's a bit tacky and it's turning too. Hard to play when you bowl cutters and hit the wicket hard. I tried to take it deep, till the 40th over or so, and launch from there. If we can get Rohit and Kohli early, we can put pressure on the middle order. We'll need to bowl well, though. I can bowl, if need be. Haven't been bowling at the nets, but glad to have contributed, and if need be I can bowl."

2.12pm An engrossing ODI innings, full of shifts in momentum. Sri Lanka were in trouble at 55 for 4, but a superlative hundred from Angelo Mathews has given them a pretty decent total to defend. India's bowlers were mostly excellent, and while Bhuvneshwar Kumar began poorly today, he's finished pretty well at the death, conceding only 21 in his last three overs. Superb spell from Bumrah to finish with 3 for 37, and Ravindra Jadeja was frugal in his first match of the tournament, taking 1 for 40.
