Harish: "First 10 overs will decide the result of the match. If Neth can play out 10 overs with 30 odd runs for 1 wicket than game on. The pressure will be on Pak only as nothing mmuch to lose for Neth." Netherlands to have a game to lose. It's still both teams' first game despite them being underdogs. First ten definitely huge though. See you on the other side for it.
Rapdas: "Bottom 5 of Pak scored 100. That might be the difference!" Yes. In fact, Sampath adds that 245 runs scored by Pakistan's No.4 and lower batters today, the fourth-most by them in an ODI innings.
Rajeev: "48.6 not called a wide!!! Even by the third umpire!" Yeah, surprising. Just asked Chandan, our scorer, who confirmed it's not been called.
Malik: "Technically Pak has played 48.5 overs instead of 49 Overs" ICYMI the 14th over had just five balls due to a counting error. The ticker (graphic scoreboard on the telecast) wasn't working due to technical issues. Back to the comment, Netherlands might have missed out on a wicket there too, albeit the event being less likely. It's an error but I doubt one can look into it too much from a gameplay pov.
Roelof van der Merwe: We executed well, kept them under pressure with the fielding as well. Gotta look at match-ups. Dutty bowled beautifully to give us a good start. Partnerships are key. Wicket might get better under lights. Happy with the performance, we fielded and bowled well.
5:38pm A stuttering, staggering innings had moments and phases that favoured both teams. Hard to not look for similarities between the first innings of today and yesterday but Pakistan have put a great total considering they lost three in the opening powerplay. The pitch was expected to be a flat-ol' highway but Van Beek getting one to hold up for Fakhar to spoon a return catch showed that wasn't the case. Babar was tied up by Dutt and van Beek. The pressure showed when the skipper pulled Ackermann - in his first over - to midwicket. Imam hooking a short ball to deep fine leg put Netherlands on top and Pakistan 38 for 3. But Rizwan came in and was positive from the get-go. Despite attacking field-placements and smart bowling with change-ups, Rizwan and Shakeel got going. Shakeel shifted gears to make the early wicket losses feel like distant memories. They put up 120 and scored 68 each but Dutt got Shakeel on the sweep and wickets were regular from thereon. De Leede bowling Rizwan with the nip-backer highlights how good seam bowling can get in ODI middle overs. But Nawaz and Shadab made a collective 71 off 77 balls. Shaheen and Haris made 29 among them to push Pakistan late in the innings. De Leede's four-for ensured Netherlands got key middle- and lower-middle order wickets. Both teams might feel it should have been plus or minus 20 or 30 either way but it was a great innings to watch.
