Innings break Boos ring around the MCG! Dramatic finish to the innings. Zampa tried to run out Rogers at the non striker's end. But it was not out. Zampa bowled a sensational spell but was frustrated by a missed catch earlier in the over and Rogers stealing a two that probably wasn't on. Renegades only make 7 for 141. It doesn't look enough on this pitch. Shaun Marsh has hurt his calf and is unlikely to field. We have some spice in the derby!
Koz: "No friends anymore zamps"
Caleb: "I have personally never had an issue with Mankad when batsmen are looking for an obvious unfair advantage. Rogers there though walked in with the bowler and was backing up perfectly, and what Zampa did there is the concern with Mankad being allowed, where bowlers are trying to manufacture a Mankad when the batsmen haven't gone excessively early. Great to see it overturned and Zampa just looks stupid now. "
Vaughan: "3rd umpire has got that wrong. Rogers left before the expected point of delivery. It doesn't matter if Zampa then completes his action" Zampa has to complete the run out before he completes his action. The third umpire got it right.
Jayant Isswani : "Ashwin will teach Zampa on how to run a non-striker out in IPL 2023!"
Zampa has run out Rogers at the non-striker's while he was backing up! Rogers backed up too far and Zampa took the bails off! Zampa went to bowl and ran him out. But the umpire checked upstairs to see if the bowler had his arm go past the vertical! It has! So it's not out! Zampa completed his action without letting go of the ball. Rogers had barely exited his crease but he wasn't watching Zampa's hand. It matters not. The TV umpire has given it not out.
Hari: "Ahhh Alex. You win the bet."
