8:50 pm The Melbourne Stars are still having trouble with their opening partnership. Today, the openers scored 16 runs before Harper flicked it straight to midwicket. Lawrence looked well at the crease until he chipped his wicket to long on. Stoinis survived when the ball touched the top of the off stump but the bails did not budge, but he feathered a widish length ball in the following over. In the first ten overs, the Melbourne Stars lost their fourth wicket. Patterson dropped Maxwell near the square leg ropes, which cost them a lot later on, particularly during Power Surge overs. Webster had a couple hits but largely failed to connect with the ball as he fought to middle it throughout the innings. His struggles with the bat came to an end when he miscued the inside-out shot to Henriques at extra cover. Maxwell blasted the ball all around the park and scored a rapid fifty. Maxwell remained in the crease until the end of the innings, scoring 58 runs off 32 balls. Abbott made a spectacular recovery in the 19th over, taking Webster out with just one run conceded. During the final 15 balls of the death overs, no boundaries were struck by the home team. The Sixers' bowlers put in an incredible effort to limit the runs. In his four overs, Abbott conceded just 29 runs while taking three wickets. The two remaining wickets were taken by Edwards and Kerr. After a short break, rejoin us for the second innings of the match.
chris: "Show me a better option than Konstas in state cricket opening that averages 40+ and is in decent form this season. Henry Hunt is having a decent year but has averaged mid 20's the last two years and is still less than Konstas this year. Harris we all know he's good at first class level but that's it and after that the cupboard is bare. The first class pitches are bowlers havens and the stats reflect it these days."

Midget: "Interesting chat on the Maxy LBW review, Moises saying switch hit, so wasn't outside Leg, it was offside. Maxy saying he didn't switch, but reversed hands."
alistair: "Not sure where you're getting your info from John but Hunt averaged 25 in the 23-24 Shield season and 26 in 22-23. That's certainly not being consistent for years at a level that's banging on the door of national selection. With those numbers, he's lucky to still be in the SA side."
