Finn Allen: "It felt good. It was tough at the top early on, but once Cooper came out, he shifted the momentum in our favor, and we just carried that forward. Batting first, we wanted to put a competitive total on the board. They had the better of us for the first two overs, but Cooper timed the ball beautifully. He just did what he does best; I actually thought he was going to go on to score an even bigger one today. Getting the Heat batters out will be key. They targeted the top of the stumps and bowled hard lengths, which were difficult to get away. We need to replicate that and maintain that discipline for as long as possible."
Adam: "Think the Scorchers are about 10-20 runs short here.. if it were 50 over innings. "
The Phantom: "What's the most expensive 4 over spell in the BBL?" Here's the full list.
Stats from Sampath: 60 runs conceded by Matthew Kuhnemann are the most by a spinner in a BBL game. Previous most was 53, by Patrick Dooley vs Strikers in the 2023-24 season, in just 2.5 overs.
18 sixes by Perth Scorchers so far are the most by any team in a BBL game. Scorchers held the record previously with 17 sixes vs Melbourne Stars in the 2022-23 season.
Second highest team total in the BBL ever, also the second-highest total in any men's T20 game in Australia.
7:56 pm What an incredible run fest from the Perth Scorchers at the Gabba! In front of over 20,000 fans, multiple records were shattered in a dominant batting display. The Heat initially found success when Xavier Bartlett drew first blood in the second over, dismissing Mitchell Marsh via a catch at long leg. Despite the early swing and extra bounce, the Scorchers quickly recovered. Finn Allen and Cooper Connolly launched their assault on Bartlett in the fourth over, smashing two sixes and taking the score to 40/1. Allen accelerated further in the seventh, hitting Matthew Kuhnemann for three sixes to pile on the pressure. A turning point arrived in the ninth over when Colin Munro dropped Allen on 45. That mistake proved costly, as the pair brought up a 100-run partnership in just 50 balls. Connolly's spectacular innings of 77 off 37 balls eventually ended when he miscued a slog to long-off, but not before he had taken 16 runs off that same over. The Allen storm finally subsided in the 15th over when he mistimed a length ball to cover, departing for a brilliant 79 off 38 balls. Late cameos from Nick Hobson and Laurie Evans propelled the total past the 250-run mark. It was a night to forget for the Brisbane Heat, whose efforts were plagued by misfields, dropped catches, costly extras, and untimely injuries. We will return for the chase after a short break.

Aaron: "@Glenn. When Allen and Connelly were already going at 12 an over they didn't need the surge. Looks like holding it back has paid off so far"
Another fielder is called inside the circle due to the slow over-rate. Nothing is going towards the Heat's way tonight!
