Scorer: Binoy George | Commentator: Abhimanyu Bose

5.01pm Perth Scorchers begin the new year with a win. After a solid bowling display, they nailed the chase, with Faf du Plessis giving them a good start before Bancroft chipped in with a lovely knock. Inglis came in and ensured that they got over the line. They lost a few wickets along the way, but looked in control throughout and will continue to lead the table, with five wins from six matches. Kane Richardson bowled magnificently for the Renegades, but his efforts went in vain. He took the first two wickets and gave away just 21 runs, but it just wasn't enough in the end. That's the end of the action from this game, but do tune in in a bit for our coverage of the second match of the day, with Brisbane Heat taking on Sydney Sixers. This is Abhimanyu signing off on behalf of Alex Malcolm and Binoy George. And once again, a happy new year to you all!

Sutherland to Hobson, 1 run, Went for the yorker but it turned into a low full toss and Hobson is able to get his bat down and drive it past the bowler and they take the single that wins it for them

Hobson is in and he will have to finish the job here

Sutherland to Inglis, OUT, Nails the yorker and the umpire raises his finger. Inglis reviews it immediately. There was no bat on that, ultra edge confirms. And that's three reds and Inglis has to go for 47! He looked to flick it away, but the ball got between his bat and foot and he is denied a half-century.

Sutherland to Hardie, no run, Pitches it very full and he made room on the leg side and looked to swing across the line but ball goes between his leg and the stumps

Will Sutherland to bowl the final over, with Scorchers needing two runs. Umpire calls it a dead ball very late into his run-up for the first delivery. He will rebowl now
