6.22 pm That's that from Abu Dhabi. Make sure you switch over to Mumbai against Bengaluru, Rohit versus Virat, in Dubai. For now it's goodnight from Abu Dhabi.

Ravindra Jadeja is player of the match. Says: "It is difficult. After you have played five-day cricket and then to come to white-ball cricket, I was working on my bat swing. I wanted to repeat whatever I was doing. The runs in the second-last over turned out to be the match-winning over for us. But Rutu and Faf gave us a good start. You need to be collective as a unit, whether with bat or ball. I was just backing my strength. He was bowling with fine leg and square leg up. I thought he would bowl full outside off, and slow short ball. I thought he would give one ball up, and luckily I connected well."

MS Dhoni: "It's a nice victory to have. At times you play good cricket and you lose. It is enjoyable when you don't do so well and still win. It was good cricket from both sides, and a pleasure for the spectators. We bowled well in patches. It's not easy for the fast bowlers. We tried to give them short spells. 170 was a par score, I felt. When Jadeja was bowling, it was coming on and not stopping. The way we started, KKR deserve some applause for making a game out of it. We were also worried about how the wicket will be. When you keep playing on a wicket, groundsmen sometimes water it more and leave some more grass. [On six wins in a row in UAE] The important thing was to make the most of what we had learnt and to come back stronger."

6.11 pm Time for the presentation.

Aryan: "Although kkr lost but they have maintained there outstanding form and have become my favourite for playoffs . What a comeback it is for kkr , take a bow."

Dewesh: "Someone has predicted that 10 in last over...even it was 4 run needed but feeling was same." --- Yes, Charan wasn't far off the mark, was he?

Dhoni never been part of a tie in IPL. Raina was leading CSK when they had a tie in 2010 vs KXIP, informs Sampath Bandarupalli. He adds this gem: Seven times CSK reached the target in IPL on the last ball, most by any team. MI second with six such wins. S Rajesh with this lovely comparison

Narine 41 runs in 4 overs (37 in first three, 4 in last) Prasidh 40 runs in 4 overs (18 in first three, 22 in last)

Ruturaj Gaikwad: "[On opening with Faf] The opening stand is always crucial. We managed to do it today. If one of us had stayed till 12th or 13th over, it would have prevented this game from coming closer. The senior players are used to these conditions and situations. If this had been a Super Over, I might have needed to bat, so I was really nervous around the last ball. After every game that we win, we do have celebrations."

Eoin Morgan: "Both sides batted well. Both bowled really well. Can't fault anything from our side. The second half of the tournament has been a lot of positives for our side. We just have to give ourselves the best chance. [On Prasidh for the 19th over] Sunil takes the responsibility. I hope Dre [Russell] is ok. The whole tournament has an abundance of top-class international circketers. Some of the local Indian guys haven't even been capped yet. When Jadeja plays like that, similar to Sam Curran for England, I don't think there's a lot to do. [On holding back Varun Chakravarthy] All about matchups. Your bowlers need to bowl well enough to do that."

5.59 pm Scenes at the Abu Zayed. The few CSK supporters in the stands spring to life. KKR players are the first to congratulate the CSK batters out in the middle. Played in good spirits, and a good mental game between two fine teams in this competition. That's three wins on the trot for CSK since the restart, and with some good contributions from players across the board. This was down to Ravindra Jadeja, though. Easy to say in hindsight that giving Prasidh Krishna the 19th over was a mistake, but remember he started with two balls that only went for a single each!

Narine to Chahar, 1 run, length, and he gets down on one knee and slaps it towards midwicket. Never before would you have witnessed so much excitement about a routine shot across the line! CSK go back on top of the table, and do it on the basis of, excuse the cliche, an absolute humdinger!

Slip in place too

Saftar Haasmi: "CSK you beauty!!!! Sunday Super over anyone???"

All upto Deepak Chahar now

19.5
W
Narine to Jadeja, OUT, straighter ball, and he looks to sweep this. Given out leg before! Jadeja reviews. May have just got him outside off. Though it might stay on umpire's call. Dot ball in any case. It reveals umpire's call on impact. So Jadeja will have to go back. Super Over, anybody?

RA Jadeja lbw b Narine 22 (21m 8b 2x4 2x6) SR: 275.00

Narine to Jadeja, no run, fullish, and srikes him on the pads as he looks to whip it away

Seven inside the ring. Long off, deep square the boundary riders

19.3
3
Narine to Thakur, 3 runs, tickles this fine, picking it up from just around off and middle. Varun goes chasing after it from short fine leg, and just about pulls it back in. Scores level!
19.2
0
Narine to Thakur, no run, fullish, holds its line, and Thakur fails to make contact with an attempted drive down the ground

Shardul Thakur comes in. The ball went so flat, that there was no time for the batsmen to cross over either

19.1
W
Narine to Curran, OUT, Curran skips down the track, and looks to clear long off, but he cannot do that. Substitute Kamlesh Nagarkoti dives low to his right and picks it off. No celebration, understandably

SM Curran c sub (KL Nagarkoti) b Narine 4 (13m 4b 0x4 0x6) SR: 100.00

END OF OVER:

  • Varun Chakravarthy4-0-22-1

JKamak: "Hard luck @Charan!"

22 off this over, and Prasidh Krishna hasn't helped his captain by missing his length repeatedly. Started so well, but then chose to go short, and lost his bearings a touch

18.6
4
Prasidh Krishna to Jadeja, FOUR, full toss, and deposited around backward point again. Is that game over for KKR?

Lots of perspiration for Jadeja, who has taken this game by the scruff of the neck. You just felt that the six completely reversed the momentum of the two sides.

18.5
4
Prasidh Krishna to Jadeja, FOUR, full outside off, and he has squirted this through backward point. Superb placement, and CSK are marching towards this target

What does Prasidh Krishna do now?

18.4
6
Prasidh Krishna to Jadeja, SIX, length, and he has lofted this over long on. What a shot! It's a bad choice of length again from Prasidh, though. Just allows him to get under this. Jadeja spanks it with superb bat speed. It got a lot of height, but importantly, also got some great distance

Abhishek MJ: "2 teams in best form right now.. And I wud bet they will meet again in finals! "

18.3
6
Prasidh Krishna to Jadeja, SIX, short, and swung over long leg. What a shot from Jadeja! That's the injection of belief they would have been looking at. That was a rather unnecessary variation from Prasidh, and was duly punished

Tushar J: "More than anyone the Indian selectors will be feeling great looking at Varun's performance in UAE so far "

18.2
1
Prasidh Krishna to Curran, 1 run, full toss, but driven firmly to cover yet again. Just a single
18.1
1
Prasidh Krishna to Jadeja, 1 run, fullish, around off, and driven to cover, who's quite deep on the circle

FJB: "3 wickets in 6 balls ! ,, what a turn around .. SRK will be jumping I guess !"

Over no. 19 goes to Prasidh Krishna. Might leave Narine to bowl the final over. Remember, the spinner has gone for a few today

END OF OVER:

Varun to Jadeja, 1 run, googly again, and he goes back to punch this towards deep midwicket. Just a single for Jadeja

Ajit: "Has to be said that Rayudu and Raina have let down CSK. Moeen was strikin well, but they hogged the strike for a comined total of 20 from 16 balls... all rests on Jadeja here"

17.5

Varun to Curran, 1 run, length, goes back and punches towards cover

Most times MS Dhoni got bowled vs a bowler in IPL:

3 times - CV Varun 2 times - Lasith Malinga

These numbers from Sampath B

2
Varun to Curran, 2 runs, length, tapped towards deep midwicket with soft hands. They are able to take two

CSK still have Chahar and Thakur yet to come, but we have Sam Curran coming out at 10.

17.3
W
Varun to Dhoni, OUT, he dares! He perishes! Similar length, but this was the one that goes the other way. Tosses it up a touch. Dhoni this time has no option, with the mounting equation, but to go for a big, booming drive. That leaves a substantial gap between bat and pad, and that's exactly where the ball has gone through

MS Dhoni b Varun 1 (8m 4b 0x4 0x6) SR: 25.00

17.2

Varun to Dhoni, no run, length, driven to cover. No run. Close to Dhoni, both in line and length. The temptation to go for a big one is there, if he dares

Ravindra Jadeja - not a bad option at this juncture for CSK

"34 needed off 20, Ferguson bowling to Dhoni. Major WC19 vibes here." --- Hunter man, why you do this?

17.1
W
Varun to Dhoni, 1 run, OUT, fullish, driven towards long off. To the left of the man there, and they have pushed the second. It's a good bit of fielding, though, as Varun whips the bails off. Raina is well short. No third time lucky for Chinna Thala!

SK Raina run out 11 (19m 7b 1x4 0x6) SR: 157.14

Varun to bowl out

Karthik: "Familar chest pains.. Vintage CSK on display.." --- Relax. It's beeen a good season. And sometimes you have to go through the tougher grinds

Ferguson to Dhoni, 1 leg bye, short, into the body. Awkward position, as the ball hits his midriff and drops to the off side. They scamper a leg bye

It's a great spectacle, though. Shouts of "Dhoni! Dhoni!" from the few people in the stands. Many of them have just gotten in to see him bat

Dhoni in next. G-Stats reminds me of this game between the same combatants from not too long back

16.4
W
Ferguson to Ali, OUT, short, slapped down towards long on. Venkatesh Iyer is right by the boundary, and does well to ensure he stays well inside. Another twist in the tale?
