So the one day that Super Kings' openers don't get going, they struggle to a middling score. Rayudu provided some late impetus with an unbeaten 55 off 43 balls, with not much in that scorecard otherwise. Axar and Ashwin contained the batters, and combined with figures of 3 for 38 in eight overs.

Rohit: "What an innings by Rayudu and under what circumstances."

Axar Patel: "Plan in the powerplay was to bowl according to my strength. The wicket was soft, and so I was varying my pace. We contained them well, and 137 is a chaseable score. Looks like it was a 150 wicket. This year has been good, and I hope it is better. And if the team wins, it looks even better. Ripal is a batter who can bowl well to. He can hit the big sixes as well."

7.36pm Another low-scoring game in Dubai. Not an easy pitch to score again, and Super Kings labour to 136.

Avesh Khan to Rayudu, 1 run, drills this very full wide of off to extra cover, and scampers to extra cover. Ripal throws it to Avesh, as the ball hurts the bowler's thumb flush on the bounce. He is down for a moment, but looks fine for now
