What a topsy-turvy game. But a game like the one tonight is a pleasant reminder on why the IPL is such an amazing tournament. Each team has the ability to win a match on their day, and it's the platform where heroes are made. In 2020, it was Rahul Tewatia for this fixture. In 2021, it's Kartik Tyagi. That's all from us at ESPNcricinfo. Kings will have a hard time recovering from this loss. Royals one step closer to breaking into the top four. See you tomorrow!
Presentation coming shortly. A reminder that Rajasthan Royals have jumped to fifth on the points table
It's remarkable. Kartik Tyagi is the Player of the Match. "Feeling happy. I was injured during the India leg of IPL 2021, and when I recovered the tournament got cancelled. Very happy to get the chance today. I have spoken to seniors for the last few years. Everyone has said that game can change anytime. I knew I have the death-overs skills."
Winning captain Sanju Samson: "Somewhere we had that fight left. We knew we had some special bowlers. Kept Mustafizur's overs for the end. Tyagi was confident with his yorkers, especially wide yorkers. Executed them well against the new batters. And we had top fielding plans for every batter, we have planned till the last batter. We were happy with our score, on this wicket that was a good score. We are a better bowling/fielding team too. We could've won the game early if there weren't drops early on."
Pneuma: "Gosh, what can I say! No words. Everytime Mayank plays well, he sees these losses. He should have remained till the end and finished it off."
10.19pm Fewest runs defended in the final over:
4 runs by Munaf Patel for RR vs MI, 2009
4 runs by Kartik Tyagi for RR vs PBKS, Today
KL Rahul, losing captain: "Tough one to swallow," he says while putting on the orange cap. "We need to see how we can handle pressure better. It's happened to the best in the game. Tough one to swallow that you haven't learnt from your previous mistakes. We bowled decent lengths in the first six. Unfortunate that edges got it away from us. But we pulled this back nicely with the ball."
Sid: "This is what happens when you don't play universe boss on his birthday"
Evin Lewis, 21-ball 36: "We didn't get the score we wanted. 200 would've been par. Wanted to keep it simple, but in the last five overs we couldn't get the bigger score."
Dinuk: "Tyagi's last over may be the best last over balled in IPL in defending less than 5 runs."
Dasitha : "Did that just happen?? "
Eyd : "RR va PBKS has definitely lived up to the name of being the new El-Classico!"
10.09pm How about that? We said when Kings needed 8 in two overs that they have lost games from similar positions before. It's what happened once again as Mustafizur and Tyagi delivered two top overs in the last two. Even with four balls left, Kings had a 99.2% chance of winning the game. It dropped to 90% after 19.4, 62% after 19.5 and of course 0% after the 20th.
The result now proves how important that Sakariya fielding effort at short third man was in the 19th over. It saved three runs, the difference in the end, and just how this fixture was Rahul Tewatia's fairytale night last year, it's Kartik Tyagi who is the unlikely hero today.
What will worry Kings the most is that today is the fourth time that a century stand from Rahul-Mayank have resulted in a loss. Kings dominated the chase for 19 overs, and then choked against the opponents' most inexperienced bowler. Sensational from Tyagi, conceding just 1.
Allen on strike.
Super Over loading? Kings need 2 to force the Super Over.

Three off two! Royals ahead?
Hooda. His 24-run over will be forgotten by the Kings if he can take them over the line.
