9.24 pm So LSG puts up a very robust total aided by some woeful fielding by Delhi Capitals. The biggest gaffe of them all was Khaleel Ahmed's inexplicable drop of Kyle Mayers on 14 at short third man who went on to blast 73 off 38. Can Delhi chase it down? Stay tuned to find out. Reminder that the impact player subs have been used by both sides. K Gowtham comes in for Badoni on the LSG side while Aman Khan has been swapped in for Khaleel Ahmed for Delhi's chase. Stay tuned for the start of the reply shortly.

Kyle Mayers on the sideline after his 73 off 38: "It was a tricky surface at the start. It kept a bit low and the bounce was variable. But it's still a good wicket. Our bowlers need to use the wicket, it's gripping a bit and I think we'll be in good stead. [On the ball that got him out.] I think that's the drier end of the pitch. There's an area on that pitch that's very dry and the other end is full of grass so I think the spinners need to execute from that end in particular. It's a new surface. I tried to get information from the guys. It's tricky trying to get accustomed as fast as possible. [On being dropped on 14] It's always good to get some luck. Sometimes you play a good shot and a guy takes a blinder. So I'm happy to get an opportunity. I just wanted to do well on my first game and help my team and I did that."

Sakariya to Gowtham, SIX, well how about that for an impact player switch! Slower ball lands full on fourth stump, Gowtham not fooled one bit and channels his inner dark knight by destroying this over wide midwicket landing just past the LCD ad boards.

Another impact player is being signaled by the umpire. Badoni is the player being subbed out after he's just been dismissed. This time it is K Gowtham charging out to the middle for Lucknow Super Giants to face exactly one ball. He will have a role to play with the ball/in the field too obviously.

Sachin : "Ponting is not risking even 6 balls with Khalil's fielding. That's how bad he was today in field."

W
Sakariya to Badoni, OUT, slower length ball on fourth stump, Badoni shuffles across trying to scoop this over fine leg but is thrown off by the lack of pace and it pings the gloves before ballooning to the left of Sarfaraz, who shuffles five yards and reaches forward for a simple take.

Sakariya to Badoni, SIX, slower ball lands full on middle at 101 kph, Badoni channels the death overs heroics of the guy whose name he rhymes with and crunches a drive high and deep over long-on 10 rows back.

Sakariya to Badoni, SIX, full in the slot, winds up and clobbers this high and deep over wide long-on.

Camera has just panned to the Delhi Capitals dugout showing analyst Sriram Somayajula. He used to be USA's team analyst in the early 2010s and was recently in Texas for the Major League Cricket Draft aiding the Seattle Orcas (whose ownership is a joint partnership between Microsoft's Satya Nadella and the Delhi Capitals ownership group).

Sakariya to Badoni, 1 wide, slower bouncer at 113 kph, too high and wide called on height.

Zain: "Talking about Black Jerseys. Pune Warriors India did had Black/Grey jersey in IPL. But their performance made other teams ditch Black Forever!!"

Sakariya to Pandya, 1 run, full on fifth stump, heaves a drive down the ground for one.

Shreyam Dhakal: "The only black sheep in this batting lineup might be Kl Rahul today, otherwise the runrate is quite good."

Sakariya to Pandya, 1 wide, slides this slower ball wide outside off, left alone, wide called.

Khaleel Ahmed has been replaced. The umpire signals for the impact player to enter the match and Aman Khan takes the field. Wearing some bright yellow/orange neon sneakers too.

Duncan: "It looks tacky as hell but I do love the 'gold' foil detailing on certain teams' kits. Someone needs to bite the bullet and have an all-gold one made." I'm sure there's a boxer who had to have done it. Speaking of which in reference to the black jerseys that have gotten shouts in the replies, I can't think of a more intimidating sight in the 1980s and early 1990s than Mike Tyson walking to the ring in black trunks.

Ahmed to Badoni, 1 wide, slower bouncer on fifth stump, left alone and called a wide from square leg. Sarfaraz signals to Warner that he wants to review the wide. Warner laughs and says no. Hmmm.... It was a tight call. Worth it under the new rules.

Rohan: "As a LSG fan, I must deliver my vote of thanks for Khaleel!!"

Ahmed to Badoni, no run, length ball wide outside off, opens the face to guide this behind point but picks out the fielder on the ring.

Kshitij : "Talking about Jerseys, one should really think about the Boston Bruins from NHL. They really worship their team and having a great looking Jersey does help..Much love from Boston guys!" Boston has four very different unique color schemes for their four pro sports teams. Green for the Celtics, Blue/Silver for the Patriots. Red for the Red Sox. And Black/Gold for the Bruins.

Ahmed to Pooran, OUT, fullish length ball outside off, smokes a drive flat to Prithvi in the ring at extra cover. He catches it in self-preservation at waist height. Absolute howitzer off the bat of Pooran but he couldn't have picked out Shaw any better.

Ahmed to Pooran, SIX, shot of the day! Well, tied with the similar one Mayers laced over extra cover for six. Length ball on seventh stump, Pooran powers this flat over the extra cover rope. Sharp catch by a ground staff member.

Mukesh Kumar to Pooran, 1 run, waist height full toss at 138 kph on off stump, prodded gently to long-off for one.

Mukesh Kumar to Pooran, no run, full on sixth stump, Pooran pulverizes a drive straight into Krunal's knee at the non-striker's end. He was still facing Pooran so was hit on the front of the pads. No harm done, except if you're Pooran and just were robbed of runs.

Devang: "Die mannschaft's back and red striped jersey in which they thrashed Brazil 7-1". Ah, those were the days in 2014...

Mukesh Kumar to Pandya, 1 run, full and wide at 136 kph, driven down the ground to long-off for one.

Mukesh Kumar to Pooran, 1 run, full on fifth stump, driven down the ground to long-on for one.

Zain: "Even tho i'm liking the shade of LSG jersey from the last year, I still feel they should've gone with Green. Too many blue jerseys in IPL, it gets boring seeing repetitive shades, Its all about colours guys this tournament and I feel many shades are missed here. Moreover, please ditch this gold and silver colour obsession, looks ultra cheap here." Spoken like a person who has never experienced the joy of wearing cheap fake gold/silver. Sigh....
