Yashasvi Jaiswal's breakout phase is reaching new heights one day at a time. It gave Royals the much-needed win and took them up to No. 3. It was a pleasure to witness him taking a big stride towards achieving greatness, hope that was the case for you as well. Thanks for tuning in. It's goodbye from Ekanth, Raghav, and Thilak.
Anupam: "One of the most beautiful interview ever, such transition from Hindi to English, Bhogle getting along, simply beautiful!!"
Yashasvi Jaiswal, POTM: I always have it in my heart to go out and do well. That's how I think. Nice feeling that we have won. It's not like everything happened right but I try my best and. Process is very important, how I prepare and what I'm telling myself is as well. The shot with which I won is what's most pleasing because I'm learning to play till the end and win it for the team. That's my motto. I'm blessed, grateful and trying my best. I just wanted to make the NRR higher and not thinking about hundred. It happens, no one does it purposely. Sanju bhai said don't worry, keep going. Blessed to play with all the great players, IPL is a great platform for youngsters and play with greats.
Sanju Samson, RR captain: I didn't have to do anything, just rotate strike and watch. He loves the powerplay and happy that he's played so well. It's time to give Chahal the legend tag. Very grateful to have him. You just need to give him the ball without saying anything and has introduced the concept of leggies bowling at the death. We have two more quarter-finals to play. But the pressure is never off, each and every game is important. Intensity is high. You know when Jos Buttler throws away a wicket for Jaiswal, how good the environment is.
Yashasvi Jaiswal is sweeping awards across the board before getting what should be the inevitable POTM
Vinod: "Since 2020 samson has scored 1675 runs which is the highest among non openers. Strike rate 150. Yet he is called inconsistent !"
Stat from Sampath: Most runs by an uncapped player in an IPL season: 616 - Shaun Marsh in 2008 575* - Yashasvi Jaiswal in 2023 516 - Ishan Kishan in 2020 512 - Suryakumar Yadav in 2018 480 - Suryakumar Yadav in 2020
Deep: "Best 4 teams are top of table, and in the order of their performance."
Nitish Rana, KKR captain: Jaiswal's innings was praiseworthy. Today was one of those days in life where nothing I thought 180 was par. We made a lot of mistakes with the bat and it's the reason for losing out on two points. I bowled first because I thought I could gamble as a part-timer and get the in-form Jaiswal out but it was his day.
10:37pm: A brilliant powerplay takedown from Jaiswal gives RR a thumping win over KKR. Nitish Rana bowled the first over but the gamble just set the dominos for a fall that lasted throughout the innings. Royals' NRR has improved by 0.63 thanks to Jaiswal's 47-ball 98. A 26-run first over saw the ball go everywhere. Jos Buttler was run out and it was a rare moment where Jaiswal erred but he put that behind with sparkling strokeplay. He batted smartly as well, didn't go after everything. When he did, he found the gaps or went over the boundary to register the fastest IPL fifty and take RR to a win with 41 balls to spare.
Ashish: "We want SIXER"
END OF OVER:13 | 7 Runs | RR: 147/1 (3 runs required from 42 balls, RR: 11.30, RRR: 0.42)
- Sanju Samson48 (29b)
- Yashasvi Jaiswal94 (46b)
- Suyash Sharma3-0-22-0
- Varun Chakravarthy3-0-28-0
Lots of fielders in the circle, three needed. Will Samson block it out?
Two plus four or six?
