Scorer: Chandan Duorah | Commentator: Hemant Brar

Okay, that's a wrap. Hope you enjoyed our coverage throughout the tournament. Karthik's match copies should be up by the morning. Apart from that, we have lots of post-tournament content lined up. So do check that out as well. For now, it's goodbye from our side. See you soon.

Pandya receives the trophy from Sourav Ganguly and Jay Shah. Celebrations in the Titans' camp as they pose with the trophy.

Hardik Pandya: The kind of support the support staff has shown for the players is wonderful. This is the right example for every team in the world that if you can play as a team, you can do wonders. I and Ashu pa are similar in terms of thinking. We like to have proper bowlers who can win matches on their own. T20s may be a batters' game but bowlers win you the games. From Ashish [Nehra], Ashish Kapoor, Gary, to logistic staff, the credit goes to the support staff. This title is going to be a special one because we talked about creating a legacy. The coming generations will talk about it.

Sanju Samson: This season is a really special for us. We have been able to play good cricket and give fans some happy moments. All the youngsters, seniors played well as a team, I am proud of my team. We believe quality bowlers win you the tournament. So we invested in them. With Jos playing throughout 20 overs, my role was a bit different. It was a decent season for me, nice 30s and 40s and 20s. But there is a lot to learnt. And huge congratulations to Gujarat Titans.

Kumar Sangakkara: I think we went through a few ups and downs but we have a lot of skill. We had huge contribution from Jos, Ashwin, Yuzi. We had Prasidh, Boulty, Obed McCoy coming in. I think it has been a great journey and great to be part of this franchise. It's never about recreating what happened before but about looking forward. The change is inevitable. Who you are makes a lot of difference, so I will ask players to work on their whole self.

Jos Buttler, the Player of the Tournament: Exceeded all my expectation for the season apart from today. A big congratulations to Hardik and his team, they are the deserving champions. My goal is to play for my time and try reacting to the situation. I had huge trust in everyone in the team even though who came up short today. [Message to his team-mates] It's talking to myself as well. I have lost plenty of finals in my career but today has been a fantastic occasion. It has been an absolute privilege to play in front of a big crowd. [I would ask my team-mates to] use this hurt to achieve more in future.

Yuzvendra Chahal receives the purple cap, and Jos Buttler the orange cap.

Umran Malik is the Emerging Player of the Season. Shami collects the award on his behalf. "I am very happy," Malik says in a recorded message. "Please keep supporting me, hopefully I will give you more such performances."

Hardik Pandya, the Player of the Match: [On his bowling] I wanted to show what I had worked hard for. Today was the day I saved the best for. The second ball I bowled after getting Sanju out, I realised you could bowl that hard length. [on batting] I will take the trophy any day over striking at 160. My team comes first for me. Batting comes first to me, it's been always close to my heart. When the auction finished, i knew I would have to bat at No. 4.

12.35am Finally we have the presentation ceremony.

Pratik Soholkar: "@Abhi..Just DK in place of Tewatiya..rest all is fine.."

Manu Ajmani: "Before the start of the tournament, Hardik was asked if he will bowl and he said to wait as it's surprise a surprise for everyone. Who knew this was the surprise!"

Deepanshu : "RR won the eliminator in 18.1 ovs by 7 wickets. They are at the receiving end of the exact same figures. Samson choosing to bowl was the biggest fault in RR for me.Oh and btw, Gill has a "7" no jersey and finished this off with a 6. We haven't seen that happen often, or have we ?"

12.25am The presentation ceremony coming up.

Aditya: "More than RR it was GT and Pandya paying fitting tribute to great Warnie. Sub-par team which was given no chance just like RR in 2008 and winning it in its 1st year just like RR and Warnie"

Abhi: "My XI of IPL 2022: Buttler, Samson(w), Tripathi, Hardik(c), Miller, Russell, Tewatiya, Chahal, Hasaranga, Umran, Harshal. "

Reetik: "-Akhil, you can only use 4 foreign players in XI, instead your XI has only 4 Indian players. "

Akhil: "My XI of IPL 2022: Buttler, de Kock(w), Tripathi, Hardik(c), Miller, Livingstone, Russell, Chahal, Hasaranga, Umran, Rabada. So many others that were too hard not to pick."

dhruv: "Sanga and malinga on one side , kirsten and nehra on the other and a six to finish things off we have seen this before"

Sampath tells me Gujarat Titans' four losses this season are the second-fewest for any team in an IPL edition, behind Rajasthan Royals' three defeats in 2008.

Anjan: "Remember Miller and Tewatia were playing for RR in the previous seasons, when the team was struggling. Now RR has evolved into a stronger side without these 2 mavericks, but the duo has end up on the winning side!"

Ahmed Sandilkar: "Wow shami start season with wicket and end with wicket as well Nice record"

Vysakh: "Miller has to be Gujarats MVP, sure Hardiks Perfomance was one of the best, but Miller scoring 481 runs at 142 sr under pressure is IMMENSE."

Prithvi: "Spare a thought for young Jaiswal. He was part of the final squad of U19 WC final, IPL final and lost both. This will only make him a better player. "

Nimesh: "Kirsten being the coach when India won World Cup in 2011 and now batting coach and mentor for this GT. Kudos to him! "

SunilJoy: "Wicket of the first ball of the tournament and Six of the last ball of the tournament. Well played GT."

Vishwas Jajodia: "Saha has done really well. He made up for Gill. "

Prakash: "One important aspect that all GT people are saying is the influence and tactical acumen of Ashish Nehra and no one in the fraternity knew about him. That has been the success for Nehra.."

Tewatia: In the Eliminator 1, we were pretty relaxed. We focused on taking it deep with our top-order batting long. Before the start of the season someone had asked me what my goal is. I said I didn't have a personal goal but I want to win the trophy. I don't know about the party but I am not going to sleep tonight. The team management has shown so much trust in me. I don't think there is need to say anything after winning the trophy.

Kirsten: Really chuffed. You are looking for balance, depth at the auction but the most important is you need guys who are versatile. We had a strong bowling attack throughout the tournament and towards the end we even went a bowler extra and a batter light. Hardik has been incredibly humble and eager to learn. He batted beautifully, taking responsibility which is different from what we have seen of him in the IPL. T20 is a very tactical game. I loved working with Ashish, he is tactically very good. It's an incredible winning in your first season in front of 100,000 people.

Gill: We thought if we could restrict them under 150, it would be nice but we restricted them well under 150.

Rashid: We adjusted quickly to the wicket, everyone took the responsibility. The middle overs were very impirtant. So proud to be here with him [Gill]. Very hard working guy. I thought he was the one guy against whom I would have a bit trouble but he was on my side. It's the biggest achievement of your career - being part of the IPL-winning team. Winning here needs lots of hard work, energy. It's the biggest achievement of my career.

Ferguson: Hardik led from the front, he has throughout the season.

Wade: A very relaxed team environment. Ashish created that. We didn't rely on one individual. Thanks to the crowd for coming out, hopefully we can do it next year as well.

Miller: It has been a phenomenal journey. It has been a collective effort throughout the season. Hardik has gotten better and better as the season progressed. Definitely my best seaosn.

Shami: It was the first ball so I wanted to bowl well but I wasn't thinking much. I was just trying to bowl a good line and length.

Saha: It was my fifth final and this is the second time I am finishing on the winning side. A lot of people didn't rate us before the start of the tournament, and we have proven them wrong. It all started with Shami taking the wicket with his first ball in our first game.

11.39pm Gujarat Titans are the winners of IPL 2022 - a title in their maiden season. And what a season this has been, exceeding everyone's expectations. Not many rated them after the auction but they played like a well-oiled machine under Hardik Pandya. So many players stepping up over the course of the tournament - Shami, Gill, Hardik, Tewatia, Rashid, Saha... The luck too was on their side. But tonight it was a clinical performance. They lost the toss but it didn't matter as they wanted to bowl anyway. And their bowlers set up the game, restricting Royals to a mere 130. Boult and Prasidh bowled well with the new ball but the target was too low. Gill, who was dropped early on, anchored the chase while Hardik (to some extent) and Miller played their shots around him. In the end, they won by seven wickets with 11 balls to spare. Royals had the highest run-getter and the highest wicket-taker in the tournament but not the trophy.
