Altaf : "Lakmal bowls cowardly. Every delivery outside off stump." Some people are just plain odd. It's called a bowling tactic! Anyhow, Sri Lanka could have done with a few more tactics in those 50 overs. Some pretty terrible cricket at times, but that takes nothing away from two supreme centuries from Messrs Hare and Tortoise, de Kock and Amla. Back in 20-odd for the resumption.

1
Lakmal to Morris, 1 run, wide full toss, good contact from Morris, but the cover sweeper limits the damage. Not a bad over despite all the wides, as South Africa finish on an imposing 384 for 6

Dewald Nel: "What is Lakmal complaining about? He's clearly bowling wides, and even got away with a few. Seems a bit outside the spirit of the game." Spirit of the game? Pah. What's he supposed to do? Serve up half-volleys?

49.5
1
Lakmal to Parnell, 1 run, round the wicket, Parnell chisels a single to long on
49.4
1
Lakmal to Morris, 1 run, better, another wide outswinger, that one would have been inside the tramlines, and Morris jabs a single to third man
49.4
1w
Lakmal to Morris, 1 wide, got to credit him for persistence, but that's another one that's the wrong side of the marker
49.3
0
Lakmal to Morris, no run, same line, and this time Morris does have a go, toe-ending to point
49.3
1w
Lakmal to Morris, 1 wide, wide once again, inches the wrong side of the guideline as Morris refuses to chase it

Vishnu: "Lakmal's tactic is good. Yorker length on outside off. Very difficult to hit for boundary or Six"

49.2
W
Lakmal to Behardien, OUT, persisting with that wide line, it was a full toss and Behardien thought he'd made good contact, but long-on makes no mistake, unlike his mirror-image
