South Africa were flying on 63 without loss after the powerplay, but managed exactly 100 from the next 84 deliveries as England's bowlers, led by the miserly Adil Rashid, reeled them back in. Quinton de Kock smacked a 22-ball fifty but then the innings got stuck in molasses. David Miller, the only other batter to make a score of note, wasn't too unhappy at halfway, saying the pitch got "slower and slower", although he adds it's still a good surface.
