10:07pm A scrappy innings that never really went into over-drive. West Indies were rocked early, with Hope and Pooran being dismissed inside two overs. Chase and Mayers then led a recovery job, although the latter largely struggled. Chase completed his fifty and that was the only knock of note for the hosts, with Powell and Rutherford also failing to make an impact.

After Chase fell, there was a brief passage where it felt Russell would take the game to the Proteas, especially after two successive sixes against Nortje. Nortje, though, had the last laugh and ran Russell out, which brought the hosts' score down by at least 15 runs.

South Africa were also a bit patchy in the field. There were a few dropped chances and more than a couple of misfields. Their bowling, in contrast, was on point, and that has helped them restrict the two-time champions to a middling total. Shamsi was the star of the show, picking up three wickets, while the others also chipped in whenever required.

The Proteas will be happy chasing this score. That said, the West Indies are not totally out of this contest. This track is a little tricky and if a couple of early wickets fall, who knows what could happen. Join us in a bit for the run-chase!

Tabraiz Shamsi: Nice to be out on the park when there is a full crowd in. playing against the home team, we knew it was going to be a big game and happy to contribute. He (Markram) was fantastic (as captain). There are no set patterns to our bowling attack. The way he has marshalled the guys has been brilliant. It is a pretty decent surface, to be honest. There is a bit of turn but nothing excessive. Hopefully there is a bit of dew later on. Good cricket shots and hopefully we can get over the line. No word yet (on whether Jansen will bat), but hoping we don't need him tonight. Really happy, they are a powerful batting unit and the boys executed nicely. Fully confident that I can back my boys (to get it done).
