Obaid: "G. Morning Madushka, who benefits from a wet outfield? Bowling or batting side." --- While the wet outfield might mean the ball travels a bit more sluggishly across the ground, the wet ball allied with the a bit more moisture in the pitch might make batting a bit easier - so advantage Bangladesh I'd say.

zeeshan: "what will be the DLS par for BD after 5 overs in case rain returns?" --- So any overs reduction sees things get progressively harder for Bangladesh. A 15-over game means they will need 94 in 7.2 overs, while a 10-over game will see them need 67 in 2.2 overs.

Murtaza: "What are the Possibilities for Afghanistan to Qualify even if they loose the match?" --- none at all. Not even if they lose in a Super Over.

10.25pm Even better news, the covers are off.

10.20pm Thanks Abhimanyu. So the good news is that the rain has stopped. Lots of water on the covers though, which needs to be mopped up but provided the weather stays clear, the restart shouldn't be too far off.

10.15pm The rain still hasn't persisted. But here is some additional qualification information: if it's a 15-over game Bangladesh will have to get 94 in 7.2 overs to make it to the semis. Now, with that, I am going to hand it back over to Madushka. Hopefully he can bring with him some weather-related luck!

10.05pm So, with one innings of the last Super Eight match of the T20 World Cup 2024 done, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Australia all have a chance to make it to the semi-finals. Bangladesh bowled their hearts out on a tricky pitch, while Afghanistan were maybe too cautious for too long and could never catch up. They may feel they are 15-20 runs short of what would be a par score. They looked doomed to score even lower, but Rashid Khan hit a few lusty blows at the death. Afghanistan need to win (or hope that the rain forces a washout) while Bangladesh need to chase the target in 12.1 overs. They can however chase it in 12.5 if they level scores and hit a six to win it. If they level scores and hit a four to win it, finishing on 119, they can do it in 12.3 overs and still qualify. But they do have to face a very daunting bowling lineup on a pitch that's seen the ball zip around.

The rain is heavy, so we have to see how this plays out. South Africa will be pleased they are not involved in this group, because given their love affair with rain and the World Cups, but this time it's Australia at risk of being done dirty by the weather.

Cam: "I think Afghanistan can defend this with their bowlers and the pitch. But I bet they will still be doing rain dances in the rooms"

Anoop: "The weather forecast for next few hours does look pretty bad (depending upon which side you are on)"

vikrant: "The win-loss predictor should be three axes showing the probability of Afg, Ban, and Aus making the Semi-Final. I say- Aus is clear fav now."
