11.13pm Seventeen minutes to the next inspection. You'll be an eternal optimist to believe the situation would've improved drastically. Rishabh Pant is signing autographs for the fans. No one seems to be in any hurry really. Do they know something we'll find out soon?

Kannan: "Two important games abandoned so far in this ground mainly due to lack of drainage and ground covers. ICC should really take note these issues to prevent similar happenings in future tournaments."

In Antigua, England go up against Namibia shortly. Their thumping win over Oman now means a win here should be good enough for them to qualify for the Super Eight as long as Scotland don't upset Australia. We've seen a few shocks, but it can't bigger than that if it were to happen.

We'll have our next inspection at 11.30am local time , that's 9pm IST.

10.40am Umpires Richard Kettleborough and Sharfuddoula are currently in the midst of an inspection. They're testing parts of the outfield by trodding around. The covers are firmly on the square. I'm no body language expert, but just going by the visuals, don't think the umpires are entirely convinced at the moment. They seem to be indicating the outfield is still very soft. The sun isn't beating down either. It's overcast and grey.

Vinay has a question for Anurag. "Is Saudi Arabia on your list? I am here sipping filter coffee at home on the eve of Eid and waiting for match to start and having same discussion with wife - they should do matches here in Riyadh?" -- Not long before there's a Saudi League, surely.

Anurag Uniyal has his humour intact. "ICC should host an event in every drought hit country on this planet, we may not get to watch cricket but it will solve a huge water crisis," he thunders.

vivek: "In Florida right now and looking at radar for precipitation forecast for the next 12 hours. Fort Lauderdale could see bouts of rain throughout, except for a brief window between 1-3 PM EDT. Combined with the soggy outfield, chances of even a truncated game look bleak. Unfortunate, but June is the start of stormy/hurricane season in the mid-Atlantic/Caribbean Sea region. ICC might want to consider this for the future, but they look to be strapped for time with so much cricket played now."

9:40am: With 50 minutes to go to the inspection, Rahul Dravid is seen chatting with Vikram Rathore and Hardik Pandya. Jeremy Gordon has a ball in hand, Nicholas Kirton is using a bottle like a bat as they have a few laughs. Covers are still on the squares under gloomy skies. A smattering of people are at the ground.

Update from Monga at 9:47am: The mizzle has stopped but there are damp areas on the outfield that remain a concern. More just inside and outside the 30-yard circle

Vicky: "@koomar Tenakayal: Similar to you I drove 10 hours up and down from my place to see the match PakVsCan match. I can understand the pain here and I hope you get lucky enough to see today's match for your driving efforts"

Kapil: "What in the world is a mizzle?? Is it a new word for mini drizzle?? Wasnt drizzle itself enough??" It's a rather old word meaning light rain but works as a portmanteau. Google says late 18th century: of unknown origin under verb, and 'late Middle English (as a verb): probably a frequentative from the base of mist,' under noun.

9:22am: There will be an inspection at 10.30am. Given the toss was scheduled for 10am, the update confirms there will be a delay. Monga informs that there is there's now a mizzle. In the meantime, you can check out Ashish Pant's Match Preview.

kitik: "Lost in the news about USA qualifying for both the Super 8s and the 2026 World Cup yesterday was the fact that Canada got a huge boost too. The ICC only gave one qualifying slot to the Americas region for that WC, which meant only one of Canada or US could make it. But now Canada have a much easier path, just needing to avoid a slip-up against Bermuda." Can confirm that the Americas will have one qualifying team.

9:15am: Sid Monga doubts we'll have a start on time. The outfield is still wet. There are soggy spots about, so lots to do for the groundstaff. Signs aren't optimistic but, hopefully, there are improvements.

"The two super 8 groups are not balanced at all," reckons Prashant. But ICYMI, the listings are mostly out with six of the eight teams locked in.

Koomar Tenkayal: "Intro itself is so -ve. I have driven 5 hours to see the game.Game is going to happen today. They have invested so much to beautify the stadium. If it doesnt rain, match should be on."

Ben: "Hope my Indian and Canadian friends get their match today...but I don't see how that field dries out in time. That deluge we got at 1:30 yesterday afternoon undid all of the grounds crew's efforts and turned it back into the wetland Broward County originally was before it was drained for development."

9am: Hello, we're an hour and a half away from the start of play and here's an update on the conditions. There has been a bit of early-morning rain but the forecast seems better for the day. It is overcast currently and the square has been covered. Sidharth Monga, our correspondent at the ground, says the conditions underfoot is what matters. We'll have to see if the grass dries up and is safe to play in time. India are unlikely to take chances as they have already qualified for the Super Eight and wouldn't want injuries ahead of travelling to the West Indies. Canada have been knocked out, but were able to beat Ireland, and would want to extend the progress they've made at the world stage.
