Peter Della Penna with his end-overs musing: "Biggest target St Lucia has ever chased is 163, though that came against TKR at Queen's Park Oval also on opening night in 2016. But St Lucia had an entirely different (and successful) look that whole season in which they went to the playoffs. Shane Watson, Johnson Charles and David Miller were the heroes that night. Even Michael Hussey played a role on the night. it's seems like a long time (and a different name) ago. They'll need another special helping to get over the line tonight."

"Kesrick Williams was one of the few bright spots for St Lucia in the innings, but his final over caught up to the rest of the horror start of his teammates in the field. When David Warner is dropping catches on the boundary, you know it's not your night. Four drops in all during the innings. St Lucia will not only need to pull of their highest successful chase to win this match, but they'll need to overhaul the highest total ever made on this ground in the CPL. Odds of the Stars notching their first win since 2016 looking very long at the halfway point."

Williams to Ramdin, 1 run, squeezes this full delivery to midwicket to end with his seventh CPL half-century. He's been superb.

6
Williams to Ramdin, SIX, short and he's slapped this over point. What's happening, Kesrick? Bowled three superb overs and has been all over the place in his final over. This was right to Ramdin's strength. This is now the highest CPL score at Queen's Park Oval

1
Williams to Scantlebury-Searles, 1 run, right underneath the length as he muscles this over, Warner comes around from long-on to collect this one bounce.
19.3
4
Williams to Scantlebury-Searles, FOUR, another full toss, another free swing, this time it's a much-straighter hit over the bowler's head. Held his shape with this one before unleashing it.

4
Williams to Scantlebury-Searles, FOUR, whips this low full toss imperiously to the midwicket fence. Stunning swing of the bat to get the timing he wanted.

McClenaghan to DJ Bravo, OUT, excellent bouncer angling away, Bravo fetches the pull from outside off, there's no timing whatsoever. More height on this, giving Kesrick Williams enough time to run back from midwicket and take this. Not easy doing that but he made it look easy.

McClenaghan to Ramdin, 1 run, off balance as he gets this pull high on the bat, bounces in front of square leg.
18.3
6
McClenaghan to Ramdin, SIX, carved over extra cover. He was making room, so McClenaghan went full and wide. Ramdin outfoxed him by taking a step across and then got underneath the length to put this away. Magnificent. Among the shots of the night. This is superb batting reinvention from Ramdin.

1
McClenaghan to DJ Bravo, 1 run, flat bats this pull to long-on again
18.1
2
McClenaghan to DJ Bravo, 2 runs, Warner has dropped a tough chance at wide long-on. There were two fielders converging on this mistimed pull, Warner may have been thrown off gear because he saw Mark Chapman, the deep midwicket fielder, also come around in the corner of his eye. Should've been still taken.

Mohammad Sami to DJ Bravo, 1 run, belts this slower and fuller delivery on the bounce to long-off.

Mohammad Sami to DJ Bravo, FOUR, off a thick outside edge that beats short third man. Was looking to flat-bat this pull. Not where he intended, but he'll take the runs. Sami is bleeding runs.

Mohammad Sami to DJ Bravo, no run, slower length ball outside off, Bravo swings and misses. Through with the shot early.
17.3
6
Mohammad Sami to DJ Bravo, SIX, improvisation right out of the top drawer. He anticipates the batsman trying to mow this to the leg side and bowls this full and wide. Bravo outfoxes him by going deep inside the crease and then opening the bat face to carve this behind point. The swing of the bat and the power of his arms allowed that to sail over the ropes. Stunning.

Mohammad Sami to Ramdin, 1 run, short outside off, flayed to Chapman at deep point.

Mohammad Sami to Ramdin, SIX, glorious hit! Shot of the night if you ask me. Sami goes length, Ramdin stands and delivers. Belts this off the middle to clear long-on effortlessly. Sails into the stands

Williams to Ramdin, 1 leg bye, big lbw shout as Ramdin walks across to whip over short fine, off the thigh pad and they scamper a leg-bye. May have hit him outside the line of off. Kesrick doesn't see to think so.

Peter Della Penna with his analysis: "Big slow-down by Munro. 33-ball 50, but just 18 off his final 15 balls faced. Stars have done okay to keep the scoring rate in check considering the start Munro gave them, especially considering the chasing team (TKR) won all 5 matches at Queen's Park Oval last year, though the biggest target they needed to overhaul was just 159. St Lucia facing a sizable hurdle to get their first win as the Stars."

Williams to Ramdin, FOUR, slower length ball way outside off, Ramdin reads this off the hand, then just takes a step across and waltzs this over cover. He was a touch off balance when he made contact but made terrific connection.

1
Williams to DJ Bravo, 1 run, dipping full toss which he looks to swing across, in the end just turns it gently to deep square
16.3

Williams to Ramdin, 1 run, slips in a skiddy length ball to deny him the room, attempts to tuck this to square leg, one leg bye.

Williams to DJ Bravo, 1 run, turns this down to long-on as they jog the single.

In between overs early in the innings, I was just commending the over-rates to my colleague Peter Della Penna. He said he'll hold off till the end of the innings, perhaps knowing a thing or two about how that's not going to last. As it turns out, he's won the battle. We should've finished the innings by now.
