6.46 pm Tallawahs were never going to recover from the Powerplay demolition by Akeal Hosein and Ravi Rampaul which left them 15 for 5 after being sent in by Pollard at the toss. Even a seven-wicket margin with 17 balls to spare looks far more flattering to the Tallawahs than the reality of how events unfolded. Imad and Brathwaite brought back a measure of respectability to the Tallawahs innings with their half-century stand but it was never ever going to be enough to get them to a defendable total. Simmons and Munro made that point crystal clear during their century partnership in the chase.
Lendl Simmons is the Player of the Match for his 70 off 45 balls and three catches: "It was a better pitch today. It played pretty well and I'm catching it with some confidence. The first five games it was a little bit difficult. This surface was much better for batting and watching two guys hit hundreds told me it was a good batting track. I didn't live up to my reputation for the first five games but I'm glad to come to the party now. I like batting with Munro. He rotates the strike and scores boundaries easy. It was good to have a 100-run partnership with Munro and we'll see how it goes next game. Our spirits have been high all the time. We lost by six and five runs [and the Super Over]. We will pick up momentum when the time is right."
That's it from me today. Enjoy a day off tomorrow before the CPL returns with another doubleheader on Tuesday. I'm Peter Della Penna. Take care!
