Sheldon Smith: "To be honest there are local and international performers. There is also a lot of rivalry driving performances. These same players freeze on the big stage. "

Darshan: "@Laurence - Kennar's power has been known for some time. He was pretty good in the 2018 CPL as well, and JT have kept faith in him this long despite him missing CPL 2019 "

11.34am St Lucia Kings go big again after being put in by the Royals. They were a little light today in the top order, but Cornwall and Fletcher filled in beautifully in the absence of Faf. Cornwall coming back in as opener to make a 26-ball 40 that set things up. Chase then brought up another one of his deliciously delightful fifties as Wiese, David and Keemo did their thing at the end. 190 is a great score to have when you need a win to seal qualification. Let's see if they can back it up with the ball - it's a much, much better pitch than yesterday.

19.6
6
Mayers to Patel, SIX, might be Samit Patel's best innings of the tournament so far! Waits on the legcutter and it lands loopily into his hitting arc at off stump and then clobbers it over the long-on boundary

Laurence : "re Kennar- think it takes more than one decent tournament to make a world cup squad"

19.5
1
Mayers to Royal, 1 run, attempted yorker is biffed on the full, off the toe-end, to deep midwicket

Hat-trick ball coming up

19.4
W
Mayers to Paul, OUT, off stump is knocked right out! A lovely sight. The shot, not so much. Steps out and yorks himself as he has a big heave across the line. The angle takes it across from middle stump and uproots off

KMA Paul b Mayers 10 (10m 5b 0x4 1x6) SR: 200.00

Sarah : "@Ahsan butt I also feel a bit sorry for kennar Lewis. He's done well this tournament but I guess there were players ahead of him for now. But he's made a good case for future selection"

19.3
W
Mayers to David, OUT, full and at leg stump, shuffles to open up the leg side and tries to flick this between deep midwicket and deep square. Gets too much on it to be safe as this carries to deep midwicket

TH David c Walsh b Mayers 13 (12m 6b 0x4 2x6) SR: 216.66

19.2
6
Mayers to David, SIX, whipped over the square leg boundary! Full and at leg stump at a very friendly pace and David won't miss out on that
19.1
1
Mayers to Paul, 1 run, full at middle stump, looks to go against the angle with the slog and ends up slicing it high. It lands between bowler, long-on, and long-off

It's Mayers to bowl the last over, around the wicket

18.5

Reifer to Paul, SIX, slapped over the long-on region. Full toss at about knee height on a middle stump line and it is hitting practice, really. Holds a strong base and dispatches this
18.4

18.3
1
Reifer to David, 1 run, yorker at leg stump, clipped out to deep square
18.2
6
Reifer to David, SIX, drilled flat to clear long-off! This is overpitched just outside off, he opens up his body to get some force into this and hits it sweetly to clear the fielder

Aaron: "Hayden "Half-tracker" Walsh should not. Have been going to the T20 WC. And clearly the selectors knew they were picking him seeing that it wasn't based on CPL form. Holder should have been instructed to play him give him more game time to prepare for the WC."

18.1
0
Reifer to David, no run, full and just outside off, sliced straight to backward point

Ahsan Butt: "One person I really feel bad for is Rutherford! He's a bit unlucky to not get picked. But there was always going to be heartbreaks considering the depth of talent that WI has!"

  • Tim David0 (1b)
  • Keemo Paul0 (0b)
  • Oshane Thomas4-0-33-2
  • Raymon Reifer2-0-27-0

Oshane is going straight off the field after that over. Doesn't look in too much discomfort, but something is up.

17.6
1lb
Thomas to David, 1 leg bye, short of a length and into the thigh guard as he looks to play the glance

Oshane is fiddling with his left knee, looks like he's picked up a niggle

17.5
W
Thomas to Chase, OUT, and a second in the over for Oshane! Legcutter, short of a length on off stump. Looks for the pull but he's deceived in pace. Gets a top edge that is easily taken at point

RL Chase c Young b Thomas 56 (55m 38b 6x4 2x6) SR: 147.36

Adnan: "@Sarah I think he's referring to Darren Bravo since DJ has also done well this tournament "

17.4
4
Thomas to Chase, FOUR, good length and at off stump, clears the front leg and opens the face as he drives on the rise to bisect the bowler and mid-off
17.3
W
Thomas to Wiese, OUT, picks out deep midwicket. Good length and in at off stump. Shuffles and brings out the slog, but he's hurried and can't get any bat speed on this

D Wiese c Walsh b Thomas 23 (29m 15b 3x4 0x6) SR: 153.33

Sarah : "@muhammed hyder, maybe Gayle yes but bravo??? Come on the guy is a big game performer. His presence alone brings a lot to a team "

  • David Wiese22 (13b)
  • Roston Chase51 (35b)
  • Raymon Reifer2-0-27-0
  • Oshane Thomas3-0-26-0

Muhammad Hyder : "@vern I fully agree, not only Walsh but bravo and gayle all don't deserve to be in the squad on their recent performances "
Praveen: "What happened to Holder? Why is he not bowling today?" --- Probably experimenting now that they are confirmed a last-place finish. He mentioned it in the presentation yesterday.

16.6
1
Reifer to Wiese, 1 run, low full toss at off stump, shuffles and whips it down to long-on

Leon: "@Vern while very true. He did perform well in the international series that happened before CPL. "

Looks like the ball's climbed over the advertising boards and lodged itself under some machinery. They're having a tough time finding it. The fourth umpire is out with the box for a replacement.

16.5
4
Reifer to Wiese, FOUR, full and just outside off, nicely in the driving zone and drive he does. Drilled to sweeper's right

David: "@Vern It is very justified. He is world-class. Jason Holder hasn't been using him well to be honest"

16.4
1
Reifer to Chase, 1 run, full and just outside off, looks to drive through the covers, gets a thick outside edge that lands in front of short third
16.3
