10.25 pm Tallawahs were the better team in all facets, but especially in their fielding tonight. Patriots fielding was beyond woeful with countless drops and missed runouts. Tallawahs on the other hand were nearly flawless in the catching department and notch a win on opening night of CPL 2022 over the defending champs.

Player of the Match is Brandon King for his 89: "I'm extremely happy playing my first game for my home franchise. It wasn't easy at first but we stuck it out. It wasn't an easy pitch to bat on. We realized that early that it was hard for new guys to get in. There were various points where we tried to [accelerate]. We had wickets in hand so we could do that but it was still difficult."

That's it for live coverage of tonight's CPL 2022 opener. Come back tomorrow for a doubleheader on day two. I'm Peter Della Penna. Take care!

Pretorius to Jaggesar, 1 run, good length ball tapped into the off side for what should be a runout. Carmichael ran and Jaggesar stayed put. But the relay to the bowler sails over Pretorius and they take a single in the end off an overthrow to end the match. But the Tallawahs romp to victory by 47 runs in the end.

Pretorius to Carmichael, 4 leg byes, good length ball on middle stump, prods at this and is beaten, given not out. The review is called for before he can even complete running halfway down the pitch for leg byes. This looked very out live. Surprised it was given not out. But may have been high. He was hit high on the back leg. It was indeed barely clearing the bails. Four leg byes is the result.

Pretorius to Jansen, OUT, incredible from Allen! Full on fourth stump, heaves this in the air toward Fabian Allen at deep midwicket and he dives to his right to pull off a stupendous catch. Most fielders wouldn't have got within five yards of that ball, let alone make the distance and pull off the diving effort.
