8:45pm The Patriots have managed to get up to 178, which did not look likely when they were struggling at 86-4 in the 12th over. Rutherford, though, marshalled the innings beautifully, alongside Bosch. They knocked the ball around for a bit before opening up their shoulders, with Rutherford, in particular, maximising at the death, scoring 18 runs off the final over and 66 off the last five.

As for the Knight Riders, they were good in patches but were not very miserly at the start or at the death. While Fletcher took them apart in the powerplay, Rutherford seemed a step ahead at the death. The Knight Riders also shot themselves in the foot with their sluggish over-rate, committing three successive offences and ending the innings with just two fielders outside the ring. They have the batting firepower to hunt down this total, although at this stage, they would feel they have given away more runs than they would have liked.

Corbin Bosch: Took a couple of games but glad I could make an impact. Big job ahead of us with the ball. He (Rutherford) is such a powerful hitter. Once I got to the wicket, it was about taking a bit of time. Together, we have put up a really competitive total. (On his mindset) Trying to stay as calm as possible. Take time in the middle and once you feel it is time to pull the trigger, do it. (On the red card) Definitely new to a lot of us but it helped us at the end.
