3:38pm An innings that seemed stuck in the quicksand throughout and unsurprisingly, went nowhere. Sri Lanka adopted a very cautious approach against the new ball and that did not pay off. Athapaththu fell cheaply, as did Gunaratne and the lack of run-scoring at the start meant Australia felt no pressure. Samarawickrama and Nilakshika made 20s but those knocks came at sub-100 strike rates. The only positive to accrue is that SL bettered their score from the other day, which, truth be told, is not saying a lot.

Australia were pretty good with their bowling plans, barring the odd freebie. What would have frustrated them, though, were the extras they conceded. Schutt and Brown bowled a fair few No balls and they ended up giving 13 extras in total (out of a score of 93). Speaking of Schutt, she bagged three wickets, with Molineux also picking up two.
