- BATSMENRBM4s6sSR4.1 given. Starc strikes. Karunaratne reviews. Tails back in sharply, fuller than the lbw shout in the previous over. Smashes Dimuth on the pads, flush in front of middle and leg. Doesn't look like any edge. Karunaratne just misses his flick and this looks like trouble for DK. Beaten for pace, with his feet rooted in the crease, the ball just swerved back enough to beat the flick. Excellent bowling, pinned him back with those bouncers in the previous over. All this has to do is clip the stumps for Australia to have their first. Plenty of replays being looked at by the third umpire, looking for bat - no hotpsot or Snicko in this series. Ooh, all reds, smashing into leg stump, and Karunaratne has to go. 6/19.1 edged and taken. Those impeccable lines account for Silva. Nagging away on a full length outside off, Silva comes forward and pokes. Isn't quite close enough to the pitch and the edge is taken. Carries low to Voges at first slip who takes a really good catch, inches off the ground 18/35.3 given. And Mendis has to go. Full length on off, swerves back in sharply to strike Mendis in front of off. Mendis thinks and thinks and chooses to review but the umpire says he has taken too long. So full, but still got enough movement, to beat the flick of Mendis, who played slightly across the line of that. Struck Mendis in front of off. Another flick missed results in another lbw. Initially thought there was an inside edge but looked like that hit both pads, on replays. No doubt about that. SL save a review, I think. S ravi the umpire, good call. All reds on ball tracker again 15/225.6 out this time. That late movement again. Quite full outside off, Chandimal tries to force his drive through the off side, but the ball moves away ever so late, just enough. Takes the outside edge and Nevill dives away to his right to complete a good take. A very big wicket, on the stroke of lunch 67/514.2 catches the edge and taken. Superb bowling that from SOK. Tosses it up outside off but pulls the length back so as to draw Mathews forward but not full enough to smother the spin. Mathews is caught in between, the ball spits off and takes the shoulder of Mathews' bat. Carries to Smith at slip. Exceptional bowling 43/428.2 taken, gone. Second ball of the session. De Silva falls. Flatter outside off - not short, not full - from over the wicket, the ball rips back and takes the inside edge onto the pad. The ball then lobs off straight to short leg and Sri Lanka's woes continue. Wonderful bowling, forced DdS back with that length. 87/630.2 he's left a straight one and Kusal is gone. SL in tatters. Pitches juuuust outside off, and Kusal, considering how much the other deliveries have turned, chose to let this one go. to his detriment. The ball sneaks back in with the arm. Goes straight on and clatters into off stump. Their problems are worsening. 94/828.4 gone, another. Dilruwan is lbw. Dilruwan doesn't even bother with the review. Quite flat and outside off, Dilruwan plays back, should he have been forward? The ball spins back sharply and strikes Dilruwan in front of leg and middle. Another missed flick today, another lbw. Ump Illingworth raises the finger. Lots of spin here for Lyon. Umpire's call says balltracker on wicket impact 87/731.6 massive appeal, not given. Bat-pad? Pad-bat? Smith chooses to review. If that was boot first, then that is plumb. A full, inswinging yorker on middle. Herath hurries out of the line but squeezes this out to point with an angled bat. Is there conclusive evidence to overturn that? Looks conclusive to me, boot first. Just brushed the toe before hitting the bat. Yup, all reds and that should be out. Umpire S Ravi corrects his decision and sends Herath on his way 100/934.2 and gone! SL bowled out for 117. Very slow outside off, so much flight. Pradeep lays his bat down in the line but the ball spins away just enough to take the outside edge. Smith takes a dolly at slip. 117/10Extras1 (lb 1)TOTAL117 all out (34.2 Overs, RR: 3.4)Fall of wickets: 1-6 (Dimuth Karunaratne, 4.1 ov), 2-15 (Kusal Mendis, 5.3 ov), 3-18 (Kaushal Silva, 9.1 ov), 4-43 (Angelo Mathews, 14.2 ov), 5-67 (Dinesh Chandimal, 25.6 ov), 6-87 (Dhananjaya de Silva, 28.2 ov), 7-87 (Dilruwan Perera, 28.4 ov), 8-94 (Kusal Perera, 30.2 ov), 9-100 (Rangana Herath, 31.6 ov), 10-117 (Nuwan Pradeep, 34.2 ov)

- BATSMENRBM4s6sSR3.6 bowled im. Burns goes. Wickets tumbling, the crowd is up in noise. Test cricket is back. Flat delivery on leg, the ball does not turn. Skids on with the arm and beats Burns on the inside edge. The ball clips the pad but doesn't miss the stumps. Rattles into off stump. 7/22.2 dragged on. Warner goes. Overpitched on off, the ball deviates back in late. Warner is looking to drive but the inward movement takes that inside edge. Clips the leg bail and Warner has to go. The umpires check for a no-ball but Pradeep has a smidgen behind. Nice and full from Pradeep, seeing if Warner wanted to drive and he did 3/123.2 given. Herath strikes again. Khawaja doesn't review this. What a start this for Sri Lanka. This is some exhibition of spin bowling. Probably the quickest ball he has bowled today. Flat outside off but full enough. Khawaja is happy playing back and the ball rips back in to hit him in front of middle. Khawaja cannot get bat on his defensive stroke. Umpire Kettleborough raises the finger. Looked out too. Khawaja didn't account for the volume of turn that Herath extracted with that pace. Splendid stuff 70/421.2 Smith has thrown it away. What was that? Yikes. He would not want to be seeing that again. Very cleverly slowed up outside off, lots of flight. Smith runs down the track and looks to smash the ball down the ground. It is slow and so wide that he doesn't get close to it. Easy stumping. The idea was clear - to attack Sri Lanka's best spinner. But once he did not get to the pitch, an improvisation was surely more advisable? 69/362.1 gone. Superb bowling. Pradeep's nagging accuracy accounts for Voges. Nothing much Voges could do about that actually. Good length on a fourth-stump line, bounces a touch extra and takes the upper part of the bat. Voges was pushing with slightly harder hands and the edge carries low to gully who takes a good catch, inches off the ground. Well-deserved wicket for Pradeep who has been probing away after lunch 160/745.4 there it is. Sandakan gets his first international wicket. What a ball to do it with too. A flat delivery pitches on off, Marsh doesn't pick it at all. Plays for the turn. The wrong un straightens and spins away just a touch. Since it pitched on off, it carries on to hit off. What a ball. Marsh missed that by a substantial distance 130/548.3 straight to mid-on. Nevill trying to clear the infield, fails to and holes out. Some flight on off from Herath, maybe too much flight? Nevill tries to go over mid-on but cannot get under the ball. All he manages to do is loft the ball straight to the fielder. Again flawed execution against Herath 137/673.6 gone. Sandakan gets another. The wrong un finally does for O'Keefe. Pitches on leg, bounces extra because of the number of revolutions on the ball. SOK goes back, rightly, and looks to tickle this into the leg side. However, he fails to keep it down. Straight to short leg who keeps his eyes on it and takes a good catch. 190/969.5 this time Sandakan gets the edge and Starc has to go. Excellent bowling this. Knew Starc wasn't picking his deliveries, so he persists on a fullish length outside off, disallowing Starc the time to read it off the pitch. Starc has a tentative waft at it and the legbreak spins away from the bat. But not before it takes the outside edge. Good take from Kusal, too, behind the stumps 179/879.2 and given. Lyon has a review so why not use it? Tossed up from Sandakan on middle, Lyon gets down to sweep but just plain misses this. Struck him on off, I'd say. Was the wrong un so it pitched and went away, but so full it was that it didn't travel much. Almost a full toss in normal circumstances. No bat. All reds and Lyon has to go. That signals the end of Australia's innings. 203/10Extras11 (b 4, lb 7)TOTAL203 all out (79.2 Overs, RR: 2.55)Fall of wickets: 1-3 (David Warner, 2.2 ov), 2-7 (Joe Burns, 3.6 ov), 3-69 (Steven Smith, 21.2 ov), 4-70 (Usman Khawaja, 23.2 ov), 5-130 (Mitchell Marsh, 45.4 ov), 6-137 (Peter Nevill, 48.3 ov), 7-160 (Adam Voges, 62.1 ov), 8-179 (Mitchell Starc, 69.5 ov), 9-190 (Steve O'Keefe, 73.6 ov), 10-203 (Nathan Lyon, 79.2 ov)

- BATSMENRBM4s6sSR2.2 gone. Kusal falls. Plays across the line, beaten for pace and he walks off. Starc strikes. Very full, almost a yorker on middle and leg, the ball swings back in very late to hit Kusal in front of leg. Umpire Ravi raises the finger and Kusal has to go. Just missed a flick, like Karunaratne in the first innings. Early trouble 6/112.2 gone. Superb bowling. Flatter and quicker, most of them have been skidding on, some are spinning. This is the former. Silva reviews this. That is not a good review. Clipping the side of leg stump and Silva falls. Silva plays forward, plays for a bit of turn but the ball goes straight on with the arm. Hits Silva in front of middle and this one goes onto leg with the angle. looked plumb in real-time. Silva was hoping this drifted down. SL lose both their reviews too. Excellent bowling 45/32.5 given. Starc has another. Karunaratne plays around a full ball from Starc yet again and is given. He chooses to review though. Pitches on middle and leg, and deviates back in. Strikes Karunarate in front of leg but is it going over the stumps? Looks like the on-field call should be enough. All this needs to do is clip the stumps in any shape or form. All reds on ball-tracking and Karunaratne has to go. Beaten for pace again, Karunaratne is late on his attempted flick and is struck in front. Day 3 doesn't start well for SL. 6/282.1 edged and taken. Mendis nicks off. Starc and Australia get the early wicket they yearned for. Fuller than a good length outside off, the ball holds its line outside off. Doesn't come in like the previous over. Mendis pokes, feet rooted in the crease and bat away from the pad, and gets a thin edge which is taken by Nevill 290/727.1 Mathews goes. Lyon has the big wicket. From around the wicket, he tosses this one up on off. Mathews strides forward but doesn't get close enough to the pitch, the ball spins back and takes the glove before hitting the pad. It then lobs off to short leg to take a simple catch. Big wicket this, timely. 86/458.1 given this time. Big wicket for Australia. Fullish length on middle, tails back in so sharply. Chandimal misses a flick, the ball sneaks back in late and strikes Chandimal plumb in front. Good innings that, gives Sri Lanka a fighting chance 203/577.3 tame stroke. Soft dismissal. DdS cannot believe what he has done. The Australians surround Lyon because he now has 200 Test wickets. Lots of flight outside off, DdS looks to go over or through cover but doesn't account for spin. The ball rips back in and takes the inside half of the bat. Spoons up straight to mid-off for a routine catch. Just before the new ball too. 274/687.4 first ball after the break, Australia strike. Dilruwan reviews too. More in hope than anything. Nothing much to lose with two reviews left. Plays across the line of this and is struck right in front of leg. Big appeal and umpire Kettleborough raises his finger. Clipping the side of leg stump by about 10%. So Perera has to go and Australia strike right after lunch. Quite a full delivery on middle, Perera, it seemed, had shuffled across too much and had a long way to get his bat to the ball. Couldn't reach and falls 314/893.4 oh my. What a catch that is. Henriques has pulled off the play of the match. Stunning. Fuller than a good length outside off, the ball moves away but that doesn't prevent Herath from bunting his cover drive. He fails to keep it down but has timed it beautifully. The ball is past Henriques at cover but he still sticks out his left hand behind him and clings onto a one-handed stunner, diving away to his left, feet off the ground. 353/1088.5 bowled im. Don't think I've ever seen that. What happened there? Sandakan backs away, and gives himself plenty of room. This time, Starc follows him and pings him on the midriff with a fast, quick good length delivery. Sandakan is in pain and doesn't bother about the ball, which just spoons up and rolls onto off stump on the bounce. Had plenty of time to prevent the ball from hitting the stump had he had the cognition after getting struck. Not easy, Starc is quick 323/9Extras13 (b 1, lb 12)TOTAL353 all out (93.4 Overs, RR: 3.76)Fall of wickets: 1-6 (Kusal Perera, 2.2 ov), 2-6 (Dimuth Karunaratne, 2.5 ov), 3-45 (Kaushal Silva, 12.2 ov), 4-86 (Angelo Mathews, 27.1 ov), 5-203 (Dinesh Chandimal, 58.1 ov), 6-274 (Dhananjaya de Silva, 77.3 ov), 7-290 (Kusal Mendis, 82.1 ov), 8-314 (Dilruwan Perera, 87.4 ov), 9-323 (Lakshan Sandakan, 88.5 ov), 10-353 (Rangana Herath, 93.4 ov)

- BATSMENRBM4s6sSR17.6 bowled this time. So much turn. So much. Slowed up outside off, Burns doesn't quite pick this either. Shapes to cut - would not have if he knew it was spinning back in - but the stock ball rips back in towards middle and off. Burns chops onto his stumps. Timely wicket 63/31.2 gone. Warner plays for some spin but there is none and Warner is cleaned up. Herath celebrates, Sri Lanka join in. Big big big wicket. Flat trajectory on leg, Warner skips to the ball to try and work to long-on but the ball does not turn. He plays inside the line slightly and the ball sneaks under the toe end of the bat. The ball goes on with the arm to beat the bat, but not the stumps. Clatters into leg stump. 2/18.1 Khawaja falls to a positive stroke. Lots of flight on middle, Khawaja could have come forward to defend but Australia have rightly decided to be positive. So. Khawaja looks to sweep this. Probably saw the flight and got down but that ball was way too full to be sweeping. The ball sneaks under his bat and strikes him plumb in front of middle and leg. Walks off straight away 33/249.4 No doubt about that one. Herath strikes. Smith reviews, more in hope than anything. What a beauty from Herath. Flat delivery on off and middle, draws Smith forward on the front foot but the ball skids on and strikes Smith in front. Plumb in front. Only pad. Sneaked past the inside edge, exceptional bowling from wily Herath. Nothing can save Smith here. All reds on ball-tracking and Smith's superb innings ends. 140/634.2 the SL fielders query whether it was on the full. The umpires have a chat and decide to go up to the third umpire. Flighted delivery outside off, Voges comes down to the pitch and gets too close to it. He squeezes it back to Herath who takes it. But was it a bump ball? That may be out, you know. Yes, gone. Voges got to the pitch and jammed his bat onto the ground but the ball popped up straight back to Herath off the full face of the bat. Voges distraught. Not even an optimistic appeal but SL have got a big wicket 96/447.3 massive appeal. No says Umpire Ravi. Angelo reviews. Definitely bat on that but was it pad first? That should be out. Looks like pad first. A flatter delivery on middle and leg, skids on with the arm and strikes Marsh in front. The ball then deviates onto the bat. But definitely pad first. Struck him quite low so no problem with height. Gone, all reds on ball-tracking. Herath strikes. Marsh lunged forward to that but didn't play the line, played for a bit of turn. An excellent delivery 139/585.5 gets the wicket this time. Nevill goes. Short and wide outside off, skids on with the arm. The new ball is responsible for the ball not turning. Bizzare shot. Nevill opts to cut and gets a thin outside edge on that which is snaffled up by the keeper. The SL players go wild. Big wicket. DdS' first Test wicket too. 161/950.2 taken. Sandakan strikes. Starc has chipped his wicket away. Australia tottering. What a soft dismissal. The wrong un from outside off pitches on a fuller than good length outside off. Starc goes back to try and punch through the off side but ends up just lobbing a return catch to Sandakan, who takes it to his left of his shoulders. Poor, poor shot from Starc. That will be lunch too 141/756.1 big turn and given. Lyon reviews. Was it turning too much? Given by ump Kettleborough so this has to just clip leg stump for the wicket. All reds on ball-tracking again and Sri Lanka inch closer. Quite a flat delivery outside off, Lyon should have been forward but he goes right back - deep in his crease. The ball rips back into him and hits him in front of middle. Would have taken out leg stump, good call 157/888.3 that's it. SL win just their second Test against Australia. Herath gets five. SL are overjoyed but Herath puts his hands up in calm exhilaration. Pitches this on leg and the ball skids on with the arm, beats SOK's flick as he plays across and the ball clips leg stump.
