- BATSMENRBM4s6sSR0.1 dream start for Australia off a delivery Starc wouldn't really want to bowl again in this Test. Juicy half-volley on the pads, no swing whatsoever, and Karunaratne clips if straight to Burns at midwicket. He failed to keep it down and has to make the long walk back. Starc couldn't believe his luck 0/14.4 the short ball is followed by a full delivery angling away, Kaushal chases that one, but the feet is nowhere to the pitch of the ball. He can only get a thin edge that is gleefully accepted by Nevill. Bonus wicket for Australia, the second for Starc. Kaushal will be livid at himself when he sits down and watches the replay. 9/231.2 he was reprieved two balls later as replays suggested Australia may have had the wicket had they reviewed, but it doesn't matter now. Beautifully looped in by Lyon, there's square turn after pitching as Perera hangs his bat out half-heartedly, the healthy edge flies low to slip where Smith, who stays low, gets his hands beneath the ball to complete a regulation catch. Timely wicket for Australia, will this allow them an opportunity to wrest control? 117/345.3 100th Test wicket for Starc and it's a beauty to get Mendis. Once again, the ball deviates away after pitching just short of length on middle, Mendis is committed into a defensive stroke, except he can't account for the movement and is squared up completely as the ball takes the edge through to Nevill. He spontaneously looked back as well, and that was a dead giveaway for the umpire too. A threatening stand has been broken, and the decision to persist with Starc has paid off. 184/456.4 poor stroke, and the skipper has to make the walk back. Drawn into play a cut shot, but this one doesn't come back in as Mathews anticipates, simply manages a thin edge as he throws his bat at that and Nevill accepts the straightforward offering. 224/648.5 reward for persistence. This was the inswinger that comes back into middle and leg, Chandimal shapes to flick but just checked his shot at the last second, by the time he realised what he'd done, the ball had lobbed to Khawaja who took a dolly at short midewicket. Australia chipping away after a frustrating period after lunch 199/568.6 first Test wicket for Holland and there's no review. This one's angled in from around the stumps, it was a high full toss, which he looked to paddle and missed completely. Not the best delivery he'll bowl, but it's a wicket nonetheless. Lazy effort from the batsman to play a shot he should have gone at with more conviction, but he simply missed the line of the ball in the end. 265/867.1 Perera looks to whip that across the line, completely misses the line of the ball. The only thing that could have saved him was an inside edge, but there was none this time. Straightforward decision for S Ravi, who conveys to the on-field umpires that it's out. The ball pitched in line too so the correct decision has been made in the end. The bowling change has worked as Lyon gets his second wicket. The Aussie flags in the crowd flutter, this nosy little partnership is over. 259/773.1 ripper of a delivery to finish off! These are the best bowling figures by a visiting pacer at Galle! The ball tails back in from off stump, just about enough deviation to beat Herath's feeble forward push as the ball crashes into the stumps. Starc leads his team off the park 281/1071.4 just a matter of time, really. Sandakan throws his bat at the delivery that comes back in at length, swings through the line but is beaten by pace as the ball cannons into the stumps 274/9Extras14 (b 4, lb 10)TOTAL281 all out (73.1 Overs, RR: 3.84, 320 minutes)Fall of wickets: 1-0 (Dimuth Karunaratne, 0.1 ov), 2-9 (Kaushal Silva, 4.4 ov), 3-117 (Kusal Perera, 31.2 ov), 4-184 (Kusal Mendis, 45.3 ov), 5-199 (Dinesh Chandimal, 48.5 ov), 6-224 (Angelo Mathews, 56.4 ov), 7-259 (Dilruwan Perera, 67.1 ov), 8-265 (Dhananjaya de Silva, 68.6 ov), 9-274 (Lakshan Sandakan, 71.4 ov), 10-281 (Rangana Herath, 73.1 ov)

- BATSMENRBM4s6sSR0.2 wicket off the first ball in Sri Lanka's innings, now a wicket off the second ball in Australia's innings. It was short, Burns looks to thump this in front of square but gets it nowhere near the middle as it lobs to Kusal at midwicket. The debutant is delighted, and why not. A wicket is a wicket, and he's got one off his second ball in Test cricket 0/113.3 credit to Dilruwan for persisting with the line of attack from around the stumps. He sowed the seeds of doubt in Warner's mind by drifting them in and then extracting turn. It wasn't too different this time as well. This ball was pushed through a wee bit quicker than the previous delivery, Warner fails to account for the late turn as he stabs forward, the edge flies low to Mathews who takes an excellent catch at first slip. 54/215.6 got him! Khawaja is late on the shot as this one comes back in with the arm and misses his feeble defense to hit off stump. He played back, but it was a touch fuller than he would have liked, once he missed, he was a dead duck. Intelligent from Dilruwan, kept spinning the ball away, and then got one to slide back in 59/316.1 carnage, absolute carnage. 'If you can't help me effect a stumping, I'll get him myself,' Rangana's body language suggests. This one is a slider from wide of the crease from around the stumps, Smith plays back to cut but is cramped for room, the ball gathers some venom as it slides in faster to beat Smith's shot as the stumps are rattled. Relief for Chandimal. Australia in real trouble 59/424.4 outstanding catch at extra cover by Karunaratne. Voges is beaten in flight as he drives, goes through with the stroke nonetheless, didn't get it off the middle. It was flying low to the left of the fielder who dived to complete the low catch. There was a hint of dip on that, which meant he was always going to be in trouble if he hit it in the air. Voges walks back shaking his head. Sri Lanka's dream morning continues. Classical left-arm spinner's dismissal this. 80/533.2 swung across the line but got it off the toe end of the bat, Karunaratne at a straight'ish long-off moved back and then dived low to his right to take a well-judged catch. Ensured that the ball didn't bobble out even as he hit the turf. Afridi-esque celebration from Sandakan. 106/1024.5 that's as plumb as it can get! Another delivery that slides back in to beat his forward prod. Nevill consulted Marsh before deciding there was nothing there to save him. This is the arm ball which comes back in to hit him in front of middle and off. 80/624.6 Starc pushes forward but is outside the line as the ball spins back in to hit him on the front pad. There was no inside edge, so height was the only thing that could have saved him. Point of impact is in line, and so Herath has a hat-trick. Hawkeye shows the ball hitting top of middle. He's the second Sri Lankan after Nuwan Zoysa to take a Test hat-trick. What drama in Galle. They took a long time to go upstairs, but Herath has been proved right. 80/727.2 outstanding catch at short leg. Kusal Mendis stays low and moves to his left as the ball lobs off the inside edge. There wasn't much turn and Lyon prodded outside the line. Absolute carnage this! Mathews was critical of Dilruwan's efforts in Pallekele, there isn't much to complain about here in Galle. 85/831.2 as easy as they come, very similar to Warner's dismissal. This time he gets some purchase off the deck as he bowled it slower through the air, there's drift, turn and bounce as Hazlewood pokes at that one, gets it off the glove as Mathews completes a good low catch at first slip. He was off balance but held on to it. 89/9Extras6 (b 5, lb 1)TOTAL106 all out (33.2 Overs, RR: 3.18, 124 minutes)Fall of wickets: 1-0 (Joe Burns, 0.2 ov), 2-54 (David Warner, 13.3 ov), 3-59 (Usman Khawaja, 15.6 ov), 4-59 (Steven Smith, 16.1 ov), 5-80 (Adam Voges, 24.4 ov), 6-80 (Peter Nevill, 24.5 ov), 7-80 (Mitchell Starc, 24.6 ov), 8-85 (Nathan Lyon, 27.2 ov), 9-89 (Josh Hazlewood, 31.2 ov), 10-106 (Mitchell Marsh, 33.2 ov)

- BATSMENRBM4s6sSR1.6 the corridor outside off has done the trick for Hazlewood. He kept bringing them in, but this time the ball holds its line, Silva pokes at that one as the ball flies off the edge to Smith, who moves to his left to take a low catch at second slip. Opening woes continue for Sri Lanka 5/12.2 another one bites the dust. Caught flicking in the first innings, caught flirting outside off in the second. Didn't really need to play at that. This was a length ball that nipped away from the sixth stump or so, Karunaratne goes half-heartedly at that, the bat face is opened as he plays it into the hands of the gully fielder. 9/215.3 once again, he's looking for the delicate dab behind square, but fails to pick the length. This one's pushed through quicker and a lot fuller than the previous deliveries. The ball went with the arm to cramp him for room and smash into the middle stump as Perera was simply left attempting a nothing shot in the end. That should give some relief for Australia for runs were coming far too quickly for their liking 79/46.1 reprieved in the last over, but not this time. Excellent delivery from Starc, bowls this full and slants it just across the batsman, who isn't sure whether to defend or let it go, in the end pokes without any conviction as the ball flies off the edge through to Nevill. Starc lets out a roar, big scalp. 31/331.4 he lives by the sword, and now has died by it. Looks to attempt that ever-so-successful reverse sweep but this one pitched outside leg, which meant Mathews had to drag it from there. He was a touch late on the shot as well as the ball hits leg stump. Australia have a wicket against the run of play. This one kept a touch low as well, something that will interest Sri Lanka's spinners. A second fifty in the match was there for the taking. He has himself to blame though 121/623.2 how many times have we seen a wicket fall immediately after drinks? there's the big wicket. Starc strikes! This one comes back in and leaves him late, not there for the cut as it was a touch fuller, Chandimal has a waft at that as the ball takes the edge through to Nevill. Poor shot, really. The downfall brought about because of indecision, and credit to Starc for creating the doubt 98/539.6 there's the wicket. Not sure if the words had any effect, but Silva played for the one that comes in. This one came back in, pitched and left him to take the edge through to Nevill. Starc is pumped up, this has been an outstanding spell of fast bowling from him. 9th wicket in the match 172/759.2 there's the 10-for, and he's got it with a ripper of a yorker that tails back, Dilruwan is conscious of the damage it can do to his toe. Mind you it was in the mid-140s, and so he takes his feet off the ground, loses balance and by the time the bat came down, the stumps were clattered. 237/958.6 there's the wicket! Herath, in his quest to play one cute reverse sweep too many, drags it onto the stumps off the under-edge. He tried to play it from outside leg, and was a sitting duck for a dismissal with that line of attack. Productive innings, though. He's managed to add more miles to Australia's weary legs 233/859.3 edged and taken, credit for that should go to Voges, who took an excellent catch diving low to his left at slip. Those are the best figures by an Australia bowler in Sri Lanka. This was angled in full from wide of the crease, Vishwa doesn't know any other way to negotiate that and hangs his bat out as the edge flies low to the cordon. Voges is tired but extremely agile as he anticipates quickly to complete an excellent catch. Starc leads the team off the field, this has been a lion-hearted effort 237/10Extras2 (lb 1, w 1)TOTAL237 all out (59.3 Overs, RR: 3.98, 265 minutes)Fall of wickets: 1-5 (Kaushal Silva, 1.6 ov), 2-9 (Dimuth Karunaratne, 2.2 ov), 3-31 (Kusal Mendis, 6.1 ov), 4-79 (Kusal Perera, 15.3 ov), 5-98 (Dinesh Chandimal, 23.2 ov), 6-121 (Angelo Mathews, 31.4 ov), 7-172 (Dhananjaya de Silva, 39.6 ov), 8-233 (Rangana Herath, 58.6 ov), 9-237 (Dilruwan Perera, 59.2 ov), 10-237 (Vishwa Fernando, 59.3 ov)

- BATSMENRBM4s6sSR11.2 big appeal for lbw, umpire Gaffney's finger goes up. Warner has a chat with Smith and opts to challenge the decision. This was the straight delivery from Dilruwan. Flat sider, which raps the front pad. The tracker shows that it would hit the leg stump. Warner probably anticipated the turn and did not play down the line. Beaten on the inside of the bat, Smith will not like this. SL need six wickets to wrap this one up 61/40.6 poor shot, and it's that man Herath again. Burns steps out to drive, but the ball dips on him by which time he's hell bent on going over cover and simply ends up chipping it to Dhananjaya de Silva at cover. So he got off the pair, but hasn't made much of an impact otherwise. Delight in the Sri Lankan camp 3/13.3 stabs forward as he looks to defend, the ball spins back in to lob off the pad onto bat as Silva, who stays low, takes an excellent catch diving to his left. How swift was his movement? Outstanding to say the least. Third umpire S Ravi had a close look, and finally says the catch was clean. Sri Lanka have their second wicket. So the nightwatchman's stay doesn't last long 10/23.4 what is happening here? Poor judgment outside off again from Khawaja. Khawaja watches it go thinking the ball will spin away but it holds its line to cannon into the stumps. Perera has him for the second time in the match. Absolute carnage here! 10/319.6 Pops up and drops into the lap of backward short leg. Another big, big appeal from SL. This is not given by ump Gaffney. Mathews wants a review. Was there a tickle there? Smith uses his feet again. He does not meet the pitch of this high tossed-up offbreak. The bat turned on impact with the pad as Smith aimed to defend. Nibbles the inside edge near the top part of the bat and lobs to Kaushal Silva at backward short leg. TV umpire Ravi finds the little nick. Dilruwan is pleased. SL need five more wickets to win this 80/535.6 Voges came out attacking with the reverse sweep. He now falls to the same shot. This one starts outside leg from round the stumps. Voges can't touch it. Swerved in a bit to ping the leg stump. Dilruwan has a five-for to add to four wickets in the first innings and a fifty with the bat. SL need only three to wrap this up 123/732.5 Marsh offers no stroke, pads up, and is rapped on the front thigh. Not given. Was it doing too much? Missing leg? Mathews ponders and calls for a review. Full one, pitches wide outside off, and spins back into Marsh savagely. That's the magic ball from Sandakan. Marsh bent forward and took it low on the front leg. Struck outside the line, but that does not matter, Marsh offered no shot, and hitting leg stump, according to the tracker. SL's review is successful and Sandakan is mobbed by his team-mates. Mathews + reviews = blockbuster! SL need four wickets to secure the series 119/650.1 Sri Lanka secure the Warne-Muralitharan trophy for the first time in its existence! They spin out Australia inside three days. Eighth straight Test defeat for Australia in Asia. Nevill ventures out of the crease and searches for the flick. He ends up jabbing it straight to forward short leg as the ball dips, creating a fair distance between bat and the pitch. Excellent reflexes from Mendis. You little beauty. He stays low, collects the ball, and under-arm throws it onto the stumps at the striker's end, all in one swift motion, to catch Nevill, who fell over, short. How fitting is that? Mendis, who sparked SL's resurgence in Pallekele, finishes it off 183/1044.3 bowled'em. Herath does not even celebrate. Isn't he a Goodfella? Slower through the air and a hint of turn. Starc aims to hit against the turn again. This time, he can't connect with the leg-side swipe. Timbaaaah. Rattles middle SL just two away from triumph 164/849.4 soft, soft dismissal. Match haul of 10 to add to a half-century for Dilruwan. He is the first Sri Lankan to achieve the rare feat. Well done, Dilruwan. This full ball drifts into the left-hander. Hazlewood's leg-side flick goes awry. He feeds a leading edge. Loops back to the bowler.
