After controversy surrounding its organization, Renegades Challenger squad Renegades: Banditos has renamed to Misfits, and will now be owned by its players coming into the European Challenger Series qualifier. The team has also made roster changes in every lane aside from top lane and AD carry, sources close to the team tell ESPN.
The team has retained long-standing top laner Barney "Alphari" Morris and AD carry Soler "Yuuki60" Florent. Rounding out the roster will be three new players, former KOO Tigers and Giants Gaming jungler Kim "Wisdom" Tae-wan, former MeetYourMakers and Echo Fox substitute mid laner Marcin "SELFIE" Wolski and Korean solo queue support Han "Dreams" Min-Kook.
Wisdom, SELFIE and Dreams will replace Matthew "Impaler" Taylor, Marc "Caedrel" Robert Lamont and Aleksi "Hiiva" Kaikkonen, each of which left the team for new opportunities in the past few months.
The move for player ownership and the name change comes after the team was forced by Riot Games, due to a competitive ruling, to part with its parent organization Renegades. The team's new point of contact will be its founding manager Ali "Alicus" Saba, who has worked with the team since its inception.
The team's first challenge will take place later this week as it faces off in group A of the European qualifier against the likes of Low Priority, Fnatic Academy, SK Gaming, Tricked Esports and Melty Esport Club.
The two most interesting players on the new roster are Wisdom and SELFIE. Both have a lot of competitive experience, with Wisdom being a runner-up at the Riot Games World Championship last year, and SELFIE competing in various Challenger and League Championship Series lineups in the past few years. Both have joined Misfits after close personal relationships with members of Renegades.
The team's new support, Dreams, has never competed on a professional level and comes from the Korean solo queue ladder. In Korea, his solo queue name was minKOOK2, sitting at rank 51. His most played support champions include Braum, Trundle, Alistar and Bard.
