After a successful inaugural DreamHack event in Austin, Texas earlier this year, the world's largest LAN party will be returning in 2017 with multiple esports in tow.
Among those, DreamHack: Austin will feature a $100,000 Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournament heading the show. Hearthstone, Street Fighter V and Super Smash Bros. will also be returning, giving fans a good variety of esports to dabble in. The announcement failed to mention Heroes of the Storm or Pokken Tournament, two games that were on display at DreamHack Austin 2016. Since both games have seen waning viewership, it's possible that their DreamHack days are numbered.
The announcement failed to mention which Super Smash Bros. game will be featured. At DreamHack Austin 2016, the second iteration of the series, Super Smash Bros. Melee, took priority. Because Pokken Tournament was not mentioned, it's possible that Melee, along with Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, will both be at DreamHack.
ESPN has reached out for comment, but DreamHack did not respond by the time of publication.
