Team SoloMid has announced that AD Carry star player Yiliang "Doublelift" Peng has decided to take a hiatus from playing at a competitive level. The news comes on the heels of the end of the 2016 League of Legends World Championship tournament where TSM failed to make it out of group stages with a 3-3 record.
TSM will hold tryouts to replace Doublelift, and as such, have dropped out of IEM Oakland.
"That's why it's time for a small break. After our convincing performance in Summer, NALCS Spring is considerably less appetizing, said Doublelift in the announcement. "Streaming and creating content is something I've always wanted to focus on, and it's the perfect time to do it. I'll come back if the team needs me - better than before, and better than ever."
Team owner "Andy "Reginald" Dinh weighed in, saying that while unfortunate that the ADC is taking time to himself, he's happy for him taking steps to balance out his schedule.
"In this last year, I've really gotten to know Peter. He has been a great player, a great employee, and a great friend," said Reginald. "When TSM was struggling and at our lowest, he pushed himself to step up and together with Soren, they lead the team and brought us from a 6th place team in spring to the finals. He's an extremely diligent person and I'm sure he'll find success in whatever he chooses to do."
While focussing on on streaming and content creation, Doublelift states that he will remain on the team. If and when he chooses to return he will have to compete for a starting job.
