MVP broke a massive seven-series losing streak on Thursday with a commanding 2-0 sweep over bbq Olivers in Seoul, South Korea to open up Day 3 of Week 5 in League of Legends Champions Korea.
The first game of this series got off to a slow start, with neither team taking control for quite some time. Bbq (1-8, 4-17 match record) had drafted the popular siege/splitpush team composition but didn't seem comfortable with it, never quite getting far enough ahead to actually do much with it. While bbq picked up first blood, MVP struck right back with a trade kill, beginning a trend of the back-and-forth kills between both teams. MVP managed to break ahead with a laughably easy Baron secure at 23 minutes on the back of bbq's complete lack of vision. Large macro issues such as this one from bbq allowed MVP to continue securing objectives with relative ease. This came to a head with a third Baron and Elder Dragon as the game crept passed 40 minutes, powering up MVP to ridiculous heights. With the buffs still fresh, MVP demolished bbq's base and locked up the 41-minute win.
MVP maintained its momentum from Game 1, coming into Game 2 with confidence. MVP started with an advantage in the pick-ban phase, as top laner Kang "ADD" Gun-mo was given Renekton to give the team a strong splitpushing presence. The game kicked off with a double kill from MVP jungler Kim "Beyond" Kyu-suk's Rek'Sai, setting the tone for the rest of the game. While bbq fought back with some kills to keep pace with MVP, it did so while losing objectives left and right. MVP used these objectives to push ahead of bbq, never letting up on its immense map pressure. MVP was so far ahead in the midgame that it actually broke open bbq's base and took an inhibitor at the 28-minute mark, all before even attempting the Baron. With bbq on the backfoot, MVP secured a Baron kill, a clean 5-for-0 ace, and the 29-minute win with relative ease.
