Unicorns of Love overcame a slow start Friday to take down Misfits in a 2-1 series victory to close out Week 6, Day 2 of the European League of Legends Championship Series in Berlin.
The Unicorns of Love were simply far too resilient for Misfits to handle throughout Friday's series, with each of the first two games coming down to the wire. However it was Misfts who would strike first, bringing an immense amount of pressure in Game 1. A steadfast focus on objectives ultimately doomed UoL as Misfits waltzed away with a Game 1 win thanks to a stunning 21-to-3 kill advantage.
Even with the big win, Misfits continued to juggle punches with Unicorns of Love in Game 2, with neither team gaining a sizable advantage through the first 39 minutes of the game. It was quite the miracle that Unicorns was even able to stick around in this game given top laner Kiss "Vizicsacsi" Tamás' questionable movement around the map, which resulted in free kills for Misfits. One such free kill led to a 39-minute Baron for Misfits that nearly put the game away. But almost on cue, a questionable pathing decision in the jungle by Misfits mid laner Tristan "PowerOfEvil" Schrage, playing on Syndra, set up a series of kills for the Unicorns that nullified the Baron buff and gave it enough momentum to lock up the 46-minute win.
While the first two games consisted of a chess match on the Rift, the final game was lost by Misfits in the pick-ban phase. Allowing the Unicorns to draft each player's comfort picks was a fatal mistake, giving the team the wherewithal to dominate the game almost from the get-go. While Misfits threatened to break ahead with some teamfights wins early on, the late game potency of Unicorns' team composition, highlighted by AD carry Samuel "Samux" Fernández Fort's 8/1/5 KDA (kills/deaths/assists) on Caitlyn, allowed it to close the series with a 39-minute win.
