Cloud9 managed to reverse sweep Team Dignitas on Sunday during Week 7, Day 3 of the North American League of Legends Championship Series Summer Split in Los Angeles to draw even with its opposition in the standings.
Dignitas (8-6, 22-17 match record) wiped the floor with Cloud9 (8-6, 20-16) in Game 1, starting with the Dignitas bottom lane finding first blood at the 8-minute mark. This quickly snowballed for Dignitas, as a bottom lane teamfight a couple minutes later netted a 3-for-1 trade and first turret.
With a rapidly growing gold lead, Dignitas' three tanks made turrets irrelevant, allowing the Jayce of mid laner Jang "Keane" Lae-yung and Tristana of AD carry Johnny "Altec" Ru to tear through them with ease. Taking Baron shortly after it spawned, Dignitas ended the game in just 23 minutes.
In Game 2, Cloud9 jungler Juan "Contractz" Arturo Garcia was the star of the show on Zac, taking to the top lane twice in the opening minutes of the game for a kill and assist onto Kim "Ssumday" Chan-ho's Cho'Gath. He maintained perfect kill participation for much of the game, and in teamfights the ultimates from top laner Jung "Impact" Eon-yeong's Shen and support Andy "Smoothie" Ta's Taric made his dive nearly unstoppable.
An excessive amount of caution delayed the game somewhat, but there was ultimately nothing Dignitas could do to prevent Cloud9 from ending the game at the 40-minute mark.
In an attempt to return to his Game 1 success, Dignitas jungler Lee "Shrimp" Byeong-hoon went with Nunu in Game 3 for the second time in the series. The pick fell flat this time around; he failed to properly secure neutral objectives while falling four times in the opening 20 minutes.
With one useless frontline member, Dignitas could do nothing in the face of the Cloud9 engages coming from Impact's Jarvan IV supported by another Taric from Smoothie. A series of teamfight victories and a pair of Baron buffs ultimately gave Cloud9 the 32-minute win.
These two teams will be looking to overtake one another in the standings next week, when Cloud9 takes on Team Liquid on Saturday, July 29th at 6p.m. ET, while Team Dignitas faces off with Immortals at the same time.
