KT Rolster brought Longzhu Gaming down to size with a 2-0 sweep on Tuesday to open Week 9 of the League of Legends Champions Korea in Seoul, South Korea.
Despite taking control of the top spot in the LCK last week, Longzhu showed that it perhaps wasn't quite ready for the prestige that came with the position. Throughout this series against KT, Longzhu simply looked as if it lacked a fundamental grasp of the new tank meta. In the first game, Longzhu went with a more traditional late game-focused team composition focusing around AD carry Kim "PraY" Jong-in's Twitch against a tank and crowd-control heavy draft from KT. Longzhu managed to prolong the game for quite some time, but it only served to delay the inevitable domination of KT as it just couldn't overcome KT's insane teamfighting. The final game of the series was even harder to watch for Longzhu fans as KT basically did whatever it wanted in a 27-minute trouncing.
Speaking of that trouncing, this series was a good benchmark for KT going into its final game of the split against SK Telecom T1. All season long, KT has tried to show that it can keep up with the big guns of Samsung Galaxy and SKT. Taking a commanding 2-0 sweep over the current top team in the standings was a great way to prove its worth, the perfect palette cleanser leading into the final Telecom Wars of the season. Having only won a single game in 11 outings against SKT, now is a perfect time as any for KT to nab an elusive win. With mid laner Heo "PawN" Won-seok showing off with a 9/0/8 KDA (kills/deaths/assists) in Game 2 on Orianna, AD carry Kim "Deft" Hyuk-kyu posting a ridiculous 13/4/11 KDA on Ashe in Game 1, and jungler Go "Score" Dong-bin completely owning the jungle from start to finish, KT are riding a wave of momentum into a climactic final regular season series.
