Point guard Ethan "Radiant" White scored 27 points to lead 76ers GC to a 70-52 win over Celtics Crossover Gaming on Saturday in the championship match of the NBA 2K Tipoff tournament in New York.
76ers GC captured the event for the second year in a row and became the first NBA 2K team to win two tournaments. Radiant was selected the Tipoff MVP for the second consecutive year, helping his team claim the $52,500 first prize.
Celtics Crossover Gaming, who got 27 points in the final from Albano "oFab" Thomallari, earned $37,500 as the runner-up. Semifinalists Heat Check Gaming and Magic Gaming pocketed $15,000 apiece.
Celtics Crossover Gaming edged Heat Check Gaming 46-44 to reach the final behind 17 points from oFab. Alex "ProFusion" Snowden sank two late 3-pointers to aid the Celtics.
In the other semifinal, a 3-pointer by Christopher "BreadwinnerLA" Lafanette sealed 76ers GC's 57-53 victory over Magic Gaming. Center Alexander "Steez" Bernstein paced the 76ers with 18 points and 11 rebounds.
The quarterfinals saw 76ers GC beat T-Wolves Gaming 68-57, Celtics Crossover Gaming top Pacers Gaming 53-51, Magic Gaming get past Raptors Uprising GC 55-42, and Heat Check Gaming dump Bucks Gaming 67-53.
The NBA 2K regular season begins Wednesday, with Knicks Gaming looking to defend the championship. Heading into the league's second year, the prize money has increased 20 percent to $1.2 million. The prize pool will spread out over four tournaments and the league playoffs.
