Fnatic beat RNG, give Europe three teams in worlds knockout rounds

Provided by Riot Games

T1 and Fnatic will play at the League of Legends World Championship quarterfinals after emerging from Group C with victories Saturday in Berlin.

T1 finished with a 5-1 record to earn the group's top seed, while Fnatic finished 4-2 after double round robin play. The teams join Griffin and G2 Esports of Group A and FunPlus Phoenix and Splyce of Group B in the knockout stage beginning next weekend.

The winners from Group D will be determined Sunday. The full schedule can be viewed here.

The event features 16 teams divided into four groups for a double round robin of single-game matches. The top two teams in each group advance to the best-of-five quarterfinals, which take place Oct. 26-27 in Madrid.

Saturday's slate saw T1 beat Royal Never Give Up and Clutch Gaming and lose to Fnatic -- their only setback of the group stage. Fnatic rebounded from a 1-2 start earlier this week to win all three of their matches Saturday and advance.

Royal Never Give Up, which began the day 2-1, lost two of their three matchups to finish third at 3-3. Clutch Gaming went 0-6.

The best-of-five semifinals are scheduled for Nov. 2-3 in Madrid, with the best-of-five final to be held Nov. 10 in Paris. The championship team will receive 37.5 percent of the prize pool, set at a minimum of $2,225,000. The runner-up will get 13.5 percent of the prize pool.
