The rookie-laden LEC team lost 3-2 in an elimination best-of-five series. SuperMassive will move on to play the League Continental League team Unicorns of Love, who finished second in the opposing group of the play-in stage.

The loss marks an end to MAD's season after they qualified for worlds by winning just one domestic series this summer, over Schalke 04 Esports to place fourth in the LEC playoffs. They were placed into the play-in stage of the world championship in a group that included North America's Team Liquid, SuperMassive, Australia's Legacy Esports and Brazil's INTZ.

SuperMassive will move on to face the Unicorns Wednesday for a spot in the main event, while LGD Gaming -- who beat Mexico's Rainbow7 on Tuesday 3-0 -- will get the same opportunity versus Legacy.
