One player falls into the 30s. Another rises up into the 30s. That's how it goes in the ever-changing world of fantasy basketball.
A sore knee has kept Victor Oladipo out of the lineup for the past seven games, and while Indiana's star guard is expected to be back in the lineup soon, there's enough concern here to move him down into the Kyrie Irving range - the high 30s. High-usage guards and knee issues are always a scary combination.
On the flip side there is Tobias Harris, who is having a career-campaign in his first full season with the LA Clippers. While Harris doesn't provide a whole lot in terms of steals or blocks, he checks all the boxes on the offensive end (21.4 PPG, 8.5 RPG, 2.4 APG, 2.0 3PG) and is shooting more efficiently (51.6 FG%) than ever before.
Oladipo falls from No. 16 to 33 while Harris vaults up from No. 50 to 30.
The other big storyline this week is in Golden State, where Damian Jones (torn pectoral muscle) may miss the rest of the season and Draymond Green, who has missed 11 of the past 13 games because of a toe injury, won't play on the Warriors' three-game road trip that begins Monday. While all that is happening, there is big DeMarcus Cousins news; the All-Star center is ramping up his activity and is expected to be a full participant in practice this week as he continues to work his way back from a torn Achilles.
What's all this mean?
It means Cousins could be back on the court by the latter part of the month, one would think, if all goes well in practice, and when he does return, there might be less of a log jam for minutes -- particularly if Green is still out. For now, I've moved Green all the way down to No. 71 and moved Cousins way up to 59.
That's a very interesting area for big men -- that 50-60 range -- where I currently have the likes of Enes Kanter (51), Julius Randle (52), Steven Adams (53), Jusuf Nurkic (54), John Collins (55), Myles Turner (56) and Cousins.
One other big man who once was in that range, Dwight Howard, is no longer in the rankings, thanks to the news that he'll likely be out 2-3 months due to gluteal surgery.
Aaron Gordon (69), Serge Ibaka (70) and Al Horford (72) are other notable fallers this week.
Meanwhile, D'Angelo Russell (50), Danilo Gallinari (58), Pascal Siakam (62) and Lauri Markkanen (67), who returned to play his first game of the season on Saturday, are among those on the rise. Tristan Thompson, a double-double machine in recent weeks, also jumps up eight spots to No. 86.
