India 2-3 Germany: Harmanpreet, Sukhjeet strikes not enough as Fulton's side lose to World Cup winners

Manpreet Singh battles for the ball in India's Pro League match vs Germany. Hockey India

India lost 2-3 to Germany in their penultimate Pro League match - with Harmanpreet Singh and Sukhjeet Singh finding the net for India. Gonzalo Peillat scored a brace as Germany earned 13 penalty corners to India's four, with Christopher Ruhr also scoring on his comeback from injury.

The result left India in fourth place, now with no chance to win the Pro League which was an outside shot anyway. Germany leapfrogged Great Britain into sixth, but have played only nine games so far to India's 15. Craig Fulton would have been displeased with India's first quarter, but greatly impressed with the fightback, although Germany always seems to have a gear higher to access.

India face Great Britain tomorrow in their final Pro League game tomorrow, which ought to be quite important for Fulton ahead of the Paris Olympics.
