India finished their Pro League commitments for this season with a 3-2 loss to Great Britain at London.
Craig Fulton demanded a fast start from his side for this game, but they did the exact opposite of that, conceding within 38 seconds, thanks to a superb goal from Phil Roper, which gave Great Britain the momentum they needed after their loss to Australia on Saturday.
However, unlike the game against Germany on Saturday, when they went 2-0 down very early in the game, India kept the deficit down to one, but that was largely thanks to PR Sreejesh, who made a superb double save off a penalty corner, keeping out strikes from Sam Ward and Nic Bandurak.
India drew level in the second quarter, with Sukhjeet Singh scoring off a superb diving deflection after good play from Raj Kumar Pal and Gurjant Singh down the left flank. Sreejesh then was called into action again, as India conceded a penalty stroke, which Zach Wallace struck sweetly, but he veteran in the India goal moved swiftly to his right and pushed it away.
India took the lead through a penalty stroke of their own, which was given after Manpreet Singh was pushed as he was about to take a shot. Harmanpreet Singh made no mistake from the spot. They couldn't hold that lead for even a minute, as Jack Waller's screamer put GB back level, to leave the game finely poised in the last 15 minutes.
However, India fell away in the final quarter, as GB, inspired by Sam Ward, were superb with their intensity in their high press. The eventual winner came through Adam Forsyth, after some superb work by Roper and Waller down the right flank.
India finished their Pro League campaign with 5 wins, 5 losses and 6 draws in 16 games, for a total of 24 points.
