KATY, Texas -- Ryan Bathie scored 16 of his 20 points in the second half and Nicholls State rallied for an 80-75 victory against Texas State in the first round of the Southland Conference tournament Thursday.
Bathie scored eight points the first four minutes of the second half to help bring the Colonels (20-10) back from a 34-26 halftime deficit. They took their first lead of the half on a 15-foot jumper by Chris Iles with 10:24 to play.
The game started slowly, with the Bobcats (14-16) holding a 3-2 lead at the 16-minute mark. Then the action completely stopped when the lights went out at the Merrell Center. Officials resumed play with partial lighting after two brief delays, then it took another 10 minutes for full lighting to return.
Brandon Bush led Texas State with 20 points, 13 of those in coming in the first half.
