INDIANAPOLIS -- On the same day Indiana fired Tom Crean, Wichita State coach Gregg Marshall, tied to various vacancies in recent years, said neither he nor his reps have spoken to any school about an opening.
But he said one day he'll probably leave Wichita State. He's just not sure when.
"Ultimately, maybe I'll take one," Marshall said Thursday, the day before his Shockers face Dayton in the NCAA tournament. "But right now, we're very, very happy where we are. ... We're very content. But at the same time, we don't bury our head in the sand. I've said that before. We listen. Maybe there will be a time for us to make a move, but I don't know when that's going to be."
Marshall has interviewed for other jobs in the past. Even though he's not at a Power 5 school, his $3.3 million salary is comparable to what some of the top college basketball coaches make.
After leading Wichita State to the Final Four in 2013, Marshall became one of the hottest coaching candidates in the country.
This week, however, he said he hasn't paid attention to any news in the coaching world.
"There's been no discussion of any of these jobs," he said. "In fact, I don't even know what jobs are open, to be honest."
Dayton's Archie Miller, who also has been mentioned of late when high-profile coaching positions open, dismissed any rumors linking him to other jobs.
"I'm not attached to any of that," he said. "I think everybody else attaches me to them. I think it speaks volumes about how we do things at Dayton. That's the only thing I concern myself with."
